Purchased an amped sr10000 repeater over the holidays...
Took some time to get everything working and a good spot for it with
proper signal strength from the router...
The unit seems to work great, have 80%+/- signal strength to the repeater where it resides. The problem I'm having is that so far every day or two, the equipment I have accessing the network via the repeater lose connection for some reason. They show as though they are still connected, but the repeated network is suddenly not recognized by my router (reads "identifying")? If I reboot the repeater, the devices are able to see a viable network again...
Driving me nuts! any thoughts? when it's working, it seems to work well.
Router is a dlink WBR 2310 and has always worked very well, I'm just trying to extend my wireless coverage... garage, patio, wife's 7" reader, ect...

hmmm I thought with all the brilliant minds out there reading these fabulous forums (where I come for most of my tech questions) someone would have a solution for me.
Vendor suggested updated firmware,(had already done that) Vendor had me configure repeater for static IP ... have done that now, thought I had it fixed. Stable for about 24 hours, then bam,,, lost signal like 3x in the last 12 hours. I have moved repeater to several different locations, but doesnt seem to matter... Repeater still drops connection and the wireless devices "see" the repeater/connection and can connect to it, but are unable to access the internet through it when connected.. Repeated network displays as "unidentified network". Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
 
Dave, you are not getting any definitive answers because there aren't any to give.
Wireless equipment has always been an imperfect science. You have a couple of possibilities.
The repeater is flakey.
The combo is flakey.
The router is flakey.

#1 and #2, nothing to do but buy a different repeater.
#3, did you have any similar problems before the repeater? Did you ever have to reboot the router to get connected?
 
Thanks... appreciate your time, I guess I ass/u/me that if you spend $100 on a piece of equipment it should pretty much work out of the box. I slightly understand the technology and challenges but *sigh* when the wifes 7" galaxy looses connection guess who gets a phone call? Whats the best bet technology answer for extending coverage? another access point a better option?
 
I don't know if this might help but in my experience wireless routers etc. are very sensitive to power issues. You might have power spikes and they might screw with your equipment.

Yeah, I'd use a secondary wired access point rather than a repeater. Is your second location wired for ether? Cable?
