I'm trying to get some songs i haven't heard so if you REALLY like a song please give me a song to dl too 🙂

Can AC/DC be classified as "classic rock"? I think their first album came out in the very early 70's.

If so, they get my vote.

Definately, Rush.

If you're really going to make me stick to the list though,

The Beatles rule all, now and forever.

There's way too much great Classic rock to be forced to choose only one artist 🙂

Hey, if Other (please specify) is among the given choices, then why not? But if you're going to have an "Other (please specify)" option, then why bother asking "among the given"? You could just have said "Who is your favorite classic rock artist?" Just a suggestions. 😛

BTW, BDawg, you have great taste! Rush rocks! 😀

Amen, baf. 🙂 Add to my list (in no particular order)

Steely Dan
James Taylor
The Eagles
Crosby, Stills, Nash (with or without) Young
Buffalo Springfield (pre CSNY and Eagles)
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Jimi Hendrix
Eric Clapton
Fleetwood Mac
.
.
.
Could continue, but you've got the idea. 🙂

Simply because of the greatest drummer of all time. 😀

No freakin way, man. John Bonham was the greatest drummer of all time.

Well since you wanted some songs I will make a list of ones off the top of my head:
All Along the Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan (Hendrix is better)
Hey Joe- Jimi Hendrix
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You- Led Zeppelin
Dazed and Confused- Led Zeppelin
Sympathy for the Devil- Rolling Stones
Gimmie Shelter- Rolling Stones
Venus in Furs- Velvet Underground
Heroine- Velvet Underground
Jumping at Shadows- Fleetwood Mac
Black Magic Woman- Fleetwood Mac
I can see for Miles- The Who
Magic Bus- The Who
While My Guitar Gently Weaps- The Beatles
With a Little Help from my Friends- The Beatles
Heart Full of Soul- Yardbirds
Smokestack Lightning- Yardbirds
Search and Destroy- Stooges
Gimmie Danger- Stooges
Bohemian Raphsodey- Queen
Crazy Little Thing Called Love- Queen
I could go on and on but that is a good start.

Allman Brothers Bands- Statesboro Blues, album Live at the Fillmore East
Derek and the Dominoes- Bell Bottom Blues, album Layla
Santana - Black Magic Woman, Evil Ways

Led Zeppelin all the way. They have been one of my biggest musical influences (I play bass). John Paul Jones is the MAN.

Floyd is #2.

The Beatles (at least for me) are in a league all their own, so they don't figure into this equation for me 🙂

Doors, The Who, and the Stones are all just "Okay" in my book.

To address a couple of issues...

<< Styx (don't hate me, their old stuff was excellent 😉 ) >>

Somewhere along the line, Styx got an undeserved bad rap. I think they're pretty good though.

<< No freakin way, man. John Bonham was the greatest drummer of all time. >>

Please...John Bonham isn't good enough to pop zits on Neal Peart's ass...

<< The Doors >>

Don't get me wrong, I like the Doors, but they're nothing more than glorified lounge music.

If I go by the # of songs I like from each artist, then the Beatles would probably be it. If I go by my favorite song from each, then, It'd be too tough to call. I couldn't decide so I picked none.

Led Zeppelin - without a doubt!

Interestingly enough, the rock n roll artist that caused me to pick up a guitar and take up years of streneous guitar lessons was none other than the "Nuge" Ted Nugent himself. When I first listened to the Double Live Gonzo album by Ted Nugent, recorded live in '77, I was hooked on rock and roll forever. In High School during the 80's I started a band, and we played Nugent tunes till our fingers bled. Some of my favorites by the Nuge are Great White Buffalo, Stranglehold, Hibernation, Storm Troopin and of course, Cat Scratch Fever. I use to play a awesome version of Hibernation that was over 13 minutes long. Unfortunately my guitars were sold 10 yrs ago or so, but I still have a fondness for Ted Nugent and his amazing fast finger style of play.
