I see them as totally different games. I didn't find anything creepy or scary in Dead Space but enjoyed it quite a bit still. Amnesia is great cause you really are helpless and have to run and hide to survive. Not having means of defense really makes it more intense, instead of just blasting through whatever comes at you.

As someone who just started playing Dead Space, I agree. Amnesia to me is the epitome of a horrifying/genuinely scary experience, whereas Dead Space is more action based/shoot 'em up. However they are both very good games and at times felt nearly cinematic in experience.

Just thinking about the game creeps me out. I cannot play this game for more than 15 minutes at a stretch.. one of the best games this year. Definitely worth it.

Edit: LOL at the tags

My heart literally skipped a few beats during one instance of playing this game.

Lights out, headphones on, walking [more like crawling] around a very dark area.... and then the phone rang. HOLY crap - I had to get up and gather my senses.

This is one of the few games where I'm literally yelling "oh crap..oh crap...oh crap" and trying to run out of my chair when being chased by one of the monsters in the game.

Yeah..the graphics aren't top notch Crysis - but the atmosphere definitely makes up for it.

Easily worth $9.99...

I've never been bothered by horror movies, but I played Penumbra: Overture and it is extremely creepy. I would assume this is the same, probably better given the reviews and the video on steam. This with the lights off is just about the scariest experience you can have with a PC in my opinion. The sheer helpless is almost overwhelming.

Purchased for myself and a gift for someone. I really wish Steam would let you delay gift delivery... Say, like until xmas or a bday...

Send the gift to your own email, and then give the recipient the link in that email whenever you feel like.

It's a roundabout way, but it works.

I might have to do that for the girlfriend. She wants Civ 5 off Steam, but I don't want to pre-gift it to her before Christmas. But, I picked up Civ 4 Complete instead. I figured I'd let her try that first since it's more highly rated than Civ 5 and she's never palyed 4 before. If she still prefers Civ 5, I can always buy it for her post-Christmas :p

Now, on topic. I picked up Amnesia back during the Halloween sale for pretty cheap, mostly because it's Steam Play for my MacBook as well as my PC. I found it "creepy", I guess you could say, but I wasn't scared or shocked by it. I haven't played much in it, however, so it might get worse later on. It didn't quite give that mystery feel that the last series did.

I wish they'd make another Eternal Darkness game -- console or PC. THAT was a great horror game with the oddities of the insanity system after you come back to the present day.

Nice. I've got an older 8800GTS 640M I'm gonna give my buddy. I can't seem to find the vid req's for this game tho.............

But, at any rate, good deal on the price!

I've noticed no one ever mentions the way the screen morphs and bends as you move around. This made me have to limit my gaming time more than the "scariness" of it. I was getting sick to my stomach just walking around.

It's a bit of a miss, but at the same time I can't understand why you would be playing first person games on PC if you want to use a controller.
