Want to pick this game up. Looks awesome. Since it's only 20 dollars, I am wondering how long it is going to be? That is, how many hours of game play can I expect for my first run through? Or is it dependant on how smart I am and how fast I solve the puzzles? With out any Spoilers, does anyone know?

From what I've been reading, it seems to be around 10 hours, maybe a bit less. Of course, that's if you can finish it 😉

I tried the demo and the only part that really "scared" me was when you are in the basement I guess with the water on the ground. I watched whatever the hell it was coming at me in the water and I watched it like wtf is that? Once it hit me I figured I needed to move lol. What about the 2nd door where you have to manually crank the wheel while the "monster" is chewing on the body parts? I just about shat myself trying to crank that fucker as fast as I could LOL.

Ugh that part annoyed the hell out of me. The poor quality meshes doesn't bother me any, provided you can even see them LOL. The fog was a bit annoying, mostly the dithering part. As for the game... meh, not really scary more annoying.

Still playin thru it. I did have a hell of a time trying to get to the morgue. I didn't want to, but after about an hour of monkeying around, I googled the solution. Still plenty scary for me!

yeah the dithering and color banding is awful at times even in the 15 minutes I played the demo.

Just finished - about 10 hours for me since I like to look in every corner, box, etc AND try to be as immersed as possible in this type of game [which means hiding from the monsters]. Alas - the last room didn't have the same honorific styling that the rest of the game has.

Make sure you try the end a few times [this game has multiple endings]
And if you skip the credits after each ending - you'll want to write down what you see to access a file within your install directory [contains design docs, alpha game footage, etc]

Would people who finish this game want to play it again? That is, what's the replayability? Even if you know the story, would you play again?

I don't see myself ever wanting to play it again.

One thing that is really starting to bother me about this game is the apparent stretching of the screen on my 1080p monitor, despite the graphic settings changed to 1920x1080. I was able to get over this at first but now it's almost a chore to finish the game. I'm at the morgue right now.

Just picked up this game the other day. Scary as hell. First time i saw one of those monsters i ran and hid in a closet. have yet to play it since. Anyone else still playing this?

I haven't finished too.. playing for 10 mins at a time.. cannot play much longer, freaking me out I say.

Oh, and it Dark Descent not Ascent 😛

It took me a while, but I toughened the fuck up and beat the game just a couple weeks ago (FYI I bought the game on release day back in September). Like many others, I've only been able to play the game in ~15min increments because of the horror.

This is what I think makes the game so successful. When you have a game that's so damn good at getting under your skin psychologically, and yet you keep coming back to it because you want to know what happens next... it's brilliant.

Amnesia doesn't really have any real replay value to speak of. All there is to this game is a single campaign - that's it. No unlockables, nothing. You could play through the game again to see the different alternate endings, but they're nothing worth redoing the whole game for.

I'm still a huge fan though, and maybe after a little while I'll go back to it and play it through a second time, just for kicks.

I pre-ordered the game and played about 45min of it but couldn't play any more cus it's freaky as hell. I'll need to finish it soon. The best way to play is with lights off and headphones. Scares the shit out of you.

lol I came into this thread thinking a sequel was coming out! But I am currently replaying it and am in the sewers. Still super scary! D:

loved this game until I tried to escape from the sewers and kept getting game crashes as I went up the ladder. tried over and over and I cannot pass this point without crashing! any help?
