Pre-Obama, ammo prices would fluctuate about a dollar or 2 every now and then.

I doubt it's because of a shortage.

My local wal-marts are always picked clean of ammo, even the popular stuff. last one I was at had a few boxes of .40 and .357 but that was about it for handgun ammo. no 9mm, no .380, no .45

the shelves are usually pretty empty.

I bought 2 cases of 9mm that i split with my dad a little while ago. This was at a local gun shop. I think we ended up paying about $9 a box for it.

Past few months the walmarts around me have had 9mm and usually 45 as well. Is ammo really still in that much demand or is there just a lack of it being produced?

Heard that Remington was working 24/7. Don't know if it's true. Georgia Arms usually has a good supply.

Yeah, I bought from GA. The problem being that living in GA kind of takes out the price benefits they have over other places when you factor in tax and shipping.

I'm in NC and have my CCW so the process is:

Walk in
point out gun I want
show CCW
sign paperwork
pay for gun
leave

Same thing I have to do. Have CWP permit, do the paper work, pay and leave.

And I'm a SC resident as well.
Get your conceal carry license. Just having one makes purchasing firearms so much easier.

You guys are lucky living in a free country. Up here in No Man's Land I had to buy my 9mm Glock at Jane and Finch in a dark alley. The bullets are expensive being in the black market and all.

Box of 50 used to cost $9.47
Now it's $10.47

10% increase

and Still no .380 :(
(i havent seen .380 on the shelf at my local walmart EVER)

the ammo guy at my walmart told me they dont carry .380 because it is commonly used for concealed carry and that they dont want to feel responsible for it (utter bullshit but thats what he said, dont flame me) which is also the reason why he said they wont sell you .22 if its for a handgun (he always asks me what im buying it for, and if i say handgun he wont sell it to me). ymmv

also, 9mm has cost about 10.50 for the past year here. Try buying .45 -_-
