Which amino acids do you supplement with and why? It seems like there are so many out there... I don't know which ones I should be taking and why. Right now, I simply take 1 scoup of GNC arginine 5000 before I work out, and one while I am working out. Then when I get home I take 2 pills ( 1.5g each ) of L-Glutamine along with 1 scoop ( ~25g ) of Syntha-6 protein. The next morning I will take 2 more L-Glutamine pills, and 1 more scoop of Syntha-6, and one more scoop of the protein after I get home from work. I am currently power lifting 2 times a week ( routine is basically split between bench press, squats, presses and cleans with some pullups and forearm strengthening ) and then doing 20min of cardio after. My main goals at this current time, are to put on muscle and gain strength. It's winter so I am not too worried about losing pounds. That I will do later.

Did a little bit of reading.. It seems like the latest studies show that glutamine isn't really needed during a "bulking" phase. Nobody has replied so I will have to ask somebody at GNC, although who the hell knows if they really know what they are talking about or not. It sounds like BCAA's are something worth looking into, so I will have to check those out.

Before you waste your time with the clowns at GNC let me chime in.

Supplementing aminos is unnecessary except for athletes training with a caloric deficient diet.

Eat meat and eggs and you will have all the amino acids your body needs.

You don't need to worry about specific amino acids if you're getting enough complete protein in your diet. If you want to supplement, utilize whey. It's really the only one with a firm research backing.
