Amex Rewards - Experiences?

Had an Amex card since 03 but never bothered to sign up for the rewards since you pay a yearly fee. However, after financing an entire expensed business trip ($1000) as well as a leisure trip in Feb 06 ($3000) on it since the fall, now I'm thinking I can start putting my job-reimbursed tuition on it too (about $6000/yr) and start racking up points... any experiences with the $75/yr Rewards program or the $150/yr Rewards Plus program? The $40 seems like a waste given how much I could potentially put on this card per year (even my utilities with an immediate payoff).

Thx

We use our points to eat while on vacation. Just get a bunch of GCs and we're good to go.

What card do you have? I have Membership Rewards with my Amex Blue, and I don't have to pay an annual fee.

Amex Corporate, a charge card I received because of my occupation. It's still my responsibility to pay, they aren't footing the bill or anything... all statements come to me and I have to expense accordingly.

Well I just signed up for the $75/yr Rewards program (the middle one that includes frequent flier benefits). Should be starting off on the right foot with a ~$1800 tuition payoff next month. I'm also going to sit down and map out which utilities that I usually cover with cash can be funneled thru this card for points accruement. Coupled with business trip expenses (maybe 1 or 2 trips/yr minimum) this should definitely be worth the $75...

Can't answer the original question, but wanted to chime in anyway.

I charge sometimes over $20,000 - $30,000 per month for business, and rarely carry a balance. Moving to 'reward' based cards was a great move.

Amex has a great rewards program, but there are a lot of others with no annual fee that are decent as well.
