I just turned 18 about 2 weeks ago, and I'm looking to get an AMEX blue so I can get in on all of these deals. :) Can anyone give me a quick rundown of its features, benefits, downfalls, etc? I really know nothing about credit cards, so any help is much appreciated.

Search this forum for the words Amex Blue and you'll find at least a dozen previous threads discussing this topic such as this one.

I'm not an Amex Blue cardholder (yet) but so far the two features which appeal to me are:
1) Their pricematching policies are very generous and requirements not as stringest as say Staples.com would be, if successful you can price match up to $250 off per purchase up to $1,000 per year.
2) Private payments, generates a unique one time use only 16 digit Amex account number.

Guess what. I just turned 18 on Dec 23rd. Applied for the AMEX about a week later. Got rejected today, they citied insuffiencent credit information. I think it was cause I told them my income was 20K (summer job + high school tuition), rather than 30K like my friend did, and he got approved. He was also in college, but applied for the regular one and got it. I'm going to apply for a MBNA one.

What other credit cards do you have? You're going to need at least a year of good credit (err earning it through paying bills on time, etc) to be approved for one. Once you start getting pre-approved apps in the mail asking you to sign up for every Platinum/Gold Visa/Mastercard credit card there is, you're credit is pretty solid and you'll have an excellent chance of getting approved.

I myself applied before Christmas and just got mine yesterday. (I'm a little pissed I missed out on all the goodies...mostly the 30% off @ Virgin) I've had 4 credit cards, 2 dating back to 11/1999 (canceled), one dating back to April 00, one to October 00, all payments paid in full on time, I guess that looked good in their eyes.

I just got approved and am waiting for mine -- they took a really long time and are taking even longer to mail the thing. I hope that their website/account info is up to snuff.
