Regarding Your Blue Benefits

Please be advised that as of May 1st, the Best Value Guarantee benefit will no longer be available on Blue from American ExpressSM. This benefit enabled Blue from American Express Cardmembers to shop for the lowest priced items by refunding the difference* between the item purchased and any covered item**. The program will cease for purchases made with Blue after April 30th, 2002

I just thought of something, how can the weenies cry about abuse of the system when AMEX only allows you $1000 per year? What do they care if use the $1000 for good or evil purposes? How can that alter their business plan? Anyone care to enlighten me?

AMEX is sux! Another bait and switch scheme from them. I personally do not have the Blue coz I know their scheme. Remember last year when AMEX induced people to get their cards by offering free internet access? But 3 months later they no longer offered such a free service but started charging the members. I cancelled all my AMEX cards last December coz I still had to pay some of the AMEX cards annual fees. I can't imagine nowadays we still have to pay annual fee for a credit card. Well, certainly it is a different story if you have a bad credit history.

hmm... I have the Costco Amex Platinum which a has ( or had ) a similar program. I guess its time to check it out.

Well I made over $1000 from them and Hell, they gave us a long warning -- not cancelled until may (which is when I cancel the AMEX)

Hey the amex blue price value guarantee was fantastic while it lasted. I think that the 80$ I got back was fantastic... and their customer service has always been good also.

I am keeping this card, with or without the guarantee

well.... the only cancelling the PM program right?

so the extended warrenty.. and returning insuracne still in effect ?

well.. if you ask me .. the "one time use card number generator" is another good reason to keep it...

People crack me up... nobody "made" money through price protection, any more than people are getting "free money" from the US government from tax returns! It's your own money you're getting back. 😛

Actually, no, I made money. $30 for a UPS, $50 for a scanner, $20 on a Sony Remote Control... you get the idea. So in case you are still "cracking up", that's right, that's
a profit.

this is good news for those of us without blue.

we wont have to wade through the numerous deals that involve PM'ing with your blue.

bad for those that do have it, though...

I used the PM guarantee only once with it -- and I did make money, as it was a purchase I would have made with any card. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did with all the leaching going on. Cripes, what do you want from them, blue blood ?

Quit whining

Sucks that Blue is dying. I only ended up using it twice, but it did get me the JVC CD/MP3 deck for under $175.

Of course when jackasses find every which way to abuse it.....why these people don't become lawyers and rape the system I don't know.

>>>we wont have to wade through the numerous deals that involve PM'ing with your blue.<<<

True, but unfortunately, you'll still have to suffer through all of the non-Blue PM offers that will still be made. It is only Blue that is [apparently] being excluded from the BVG program, not all cards.

As usualy I'm jumping on the boat as its about to capsize...I just got my card in the mail two days ago. AARGH!

For those of you trying to get those last PMs on your Blue, don't forget that the $1000 per year limit referrs to a calendar year and not a revolving year. Your PM amount was zeroed out on 1/1/2002 so your can BVG PM up to $1000 between 1/1/2002 and 4/30/2002. I noticed several posts on other deals sites that were stating that it was a revolving year which is incorrect.
