AMEX BLUE MAYBE STILL HOT WITHOUT BEST VALUE GUARANTEE

First, I want to say that ending of AMEX blue Best Value Guarantee card is due to all those who frauded or abused the program:
a) Made up their own internet adds
b) Purposely purchased the product at a more expensive place (when they clearly new it was cheaper elsewhere)
c) Asked for a price guarantee when they had a rebate or coupone (i.e. free scanner at staples yet still asked for BVG)
d) And the many other ways the system was abused

So these idiots recked it for the rest of us. Hopefully, if you fall in this category don't be an a--hole and ruin it on the other American Express cards because they will take the program away there too.

Why I think AMEX blue may still be hot is because it is likely that they will have the 30% off of Virgin Megastore deal yet again. I saved myself quite a lot of money during that promotion. I purchased XBox games, controllers, cables, and dvds. At that time all Xbox games were $49.99 or more everywhere. On top of that the coupon book that Virgin Mega gave out was stackable. Why this is not guaranteed that they will have it, the situation is quite likely. So if you have a Blue don't cancel, maybe it mgith be used just once a year but that is a hell of a deal. You could even make some money on Ebay (I know many people bought like 20 to 30 PS2s and sold them on Ebay and made a good profit. If you don't have a Blue you may consider applying if only for this 30% off (which more than likley will happen again since Virgin Mega and Amex Blue have a special partnership....My $.02.

F$%#%! i just applied for blue. Where's the announcement for the cancellation? I still can see it on the website

Sorry Halik,

There are still other cards that will continue to have the BVG program. It takes better credit to qualify but I imagine if you can qualify for Blue you should be able to qualify for the others (and if not probably sooner than later)....Good luck....I only got to enjoy Blue for about 6 months because of the abuse of the program.

Yeah you guys frauded and made up your own internet adds.

<< So these idiots recked it for the rest of us. >>

So now your trying to reck hot deals for the rest of us with this lame post and horrible grammar?

You're one to talk about grammar...

No LOSER...I am just letting people know that they still may wish to apply for Blue so that if Virgin does the 30% off with Blue come next November they don't miss out because they don't have a Blue (since it takes some weeks to get one). Quit acting like a little wussy on a playground and grown up and stop flaming. This purpose of this forum is to help others save some money and 30% is a good deal. Just becaue you are senior member does not mean that all these newbies were aware that Blue had that 30%off promotion with Virgin Megastore. With all the threads stating that there is no more BVG nobody has mentioned that Blue and Virgin Mega are partners and there could be some potential deals because of that.

GET A FREAKIN LIFE LAMO! Quit wasting your time flaming....Please not more posts life you life: WORTHLESS!

For the idiots who don't get it. The highlighted words are the posters misspelled words quoted.

I don't think you get it.

The correct word is you're, not your. Before you point out bad grammar, you should check your own first.

Hey, I was just wondering if you knew what other cards offered. I don't plan on abusing it, but it would probably be a good idea to have if I am going to be buying electronics with it. I know you said you probably have to qualify for them, and I think I would. I am just wondering which ones have it. Thanks for the help.

Where's the lock.

btw christopherojeda, on what empirical data do you base your post? Were you retained by Amex Blue to conduct an analysis of the BVG program?

I know for a fact that I did not abuse the program, create phony web pages, or do anything else that was illegal or immoral.

I just took advantage of the terms of the program to save money.

Good deals come and go?????.

WOW, I guess I must be living right because I just got paid $92 on 3/27 for my XP2000+ I got on 1/31.

Just got in under the wire.

I agree with the original poster. All these pricematches before rebates and
pricematches with non-legit camera stores killed the BVG policy with Blue.
I said it would then and now it has, despite all the rational from those that
screwed AMEX. What was sad is the mod's continued to allow the AMEX
screwing threads.

Anyways, this thread could be a hot deal if we can get together a list of
other CC's that have a BVG policy. Only problem is people will cheat those and
those BVG's will be cancelled.

the original post here is a sad excuse for a hot deal
i have blue and have never used the price match program mostly b/c i dont believe in saving by spending on things i dont want/need
however i blame amex for this whole situation
they created the loop holes...they could have closed the loop holes...
but instead they just cancelled the prg in total
i have so many credit card options, and although american express is still a pretty good card, im going to keep most of my business with visa and discover

D

Truer words were never spoken, insomniac.

And VaG, you ever hear of the term "People in glass houses..."? Dumbass...

It's a shame AMEX is ending this program, i have yet to pricematch anything with that card. People will always find a way to abuse anything that is good.

Haven't any of you ever considered that just MAYBE AmEx introduced the BVG program with a termination date already in mind? I mean come on, obviously it costs them money. It works nice to lure people into signing up and then surely some percent will stay on board even after the BVG is terminated.

It doesn't take a marketing genious to figure this out. 🙂
