I have had KK many times. I think they are small and overpriced for what you get. The glazed have to be warm or they are a waste of time. I feel you can do better with smaller mom and pop type of places.

mmmmmm I love me some good ponchki.

They didn't check out a local bakery in my city that sells a donut with fried apples, cinnamon glaze, and filled with vanilla pudding. It's quite possibly the most delicious thing I've ever eaten :)

OMG finally somebody says something awesome about a place that might just be near me.

Where is this magical donut shop from heaven you have described?
I must know, I need the donut you just described.

well, that's kind of my point. They were a long-time small, semi-mom & pop place. then some fucks that were truly gay for that image blew them up to hell and they spread like cancer.

quality diminished.

and of course they have to be warm. that's the point, really. They make all the other types of donuts, too, but the classic is the glazed served warm/hot. and they are not called Krispy Kremes, they are called donuts. Krispy Kreme is the name of the restaurant. :colbert:

In a pinch Local Korean Donut place > Dunkin' > Krispy Kreme > Walmart Donuts.

It's funny you mention that. There is a local place here that makes amazing donuts - by far my favorite so far. I don't know if they are Korean but they are definately Asian

Chances are they're probably Cambodian...

Anyways, Stan's Doughnuts in Westwood, CA are spectacular.

You know, I was in Portland and KNEW about Voodoo Doughnuts and still didn't go there. Pretty big fuckup on my part. =/

Not really. It's completely overrated given the line you have to wait to pick up your donuts. You didn't miss much.

Bakery Unlimited. The Secor Rd. location is best. It's like a fried apple fritter thing--and did I mention it's covered in chocolate frosting? :D The people in our office call it "The Ultimate Donut".

Sucks that KK bombed here in Cali. I don't know how many are left in the Bay Are up there near you but there's only five left here in all of LA/OC area and none are close to me at all. There used to be one a 5min drive from me. I still have left over KK free dozen cards left.

naw over priced novelty donuts are best gone...

local shop or even 7/11 donuts are better... i like my bear claw/old fashioned donuts.
weedy little puff bits of kk..uncool

You forgot to mention that little part.

I now have decided I must find this place tomorrow. Pick up a couple to take to work Wednesday... good second breakfast/brunch/lunch, considering my shift is 0445-1400.

:)

edit:

Do they have fresh donuts and breakfast items all day?
I start my shift before they open, and by time I get home in the afternoon, I'm worried they won't have the deliciousness on hand, or at least not fresh. Not that that matters too much, considering I'd have them over half a day before consumed.

There's a donut place in Carlsbad Village that makes the best I've ever had. Maybe it's because I only eat them when I'm on vacation, given that I'm 3000 miles away, but they are fantastic.

I think it's called Super Donut. Total shack, has a drivethru.

They're a full blown bakery and make stuff all day, but they close around 4pm if I'm not mistaken. I guarantee if you go in there you won't leave with just donuts.

I was already planning my list of things to get. :D

So far, it includes cinnamon rolls, danishes perhaps, and a few different types of donuts.
Cookies too, perhaps? Thankfully I have the I can't quite afford too much here in the back at of mind at all times, but it might just get ugly still. :D
