Sometimes I just like a good unglazed old fashion donut. MMMmmmmmmm... Even better if it's homemade. Thanks Alton Brown!

meh. Krispy Kreme was as small and obscure as any of those places for more than 50 years. then some fucking yankees got wind of them, opened one in NY, then turned it into a fad.

there is nothing special a bout a donut, no matter what these neo-hipster wackos want to sell you.

Krispy Kreme figured that out in the late 40s. It took the rest of the country 50 years to realize they were the best, whore it out to everyhting, then step on it, then start opening the same crap and giving them semi-independent names.

Conclusion: Krispy Kreme is, and will remain, the best donuts.

Sucks that KK bombed here in Cali. I don't know how many are left in the Bay Are up there near you but there's only five left here in all of LA/OC area and none are close to me at all. There used to be one a 5min drive from me. I still have left over KK free dozen cards left.

What the fuck, no Round Rock Donuts? I used to bring a couple dozen home when going home from college.

In a pinch Local Korean Donut place > Dunkin' > Krispy Kreme > Walmart Donuts.

unglazed old fashion donuts are the absolute best with coffee

I love GOOD sinkers...but too many places don't make them GOOD.

I was always amazed at the Krispy Kreme fad. Their donuts were terrible. Mostly air-filled sugar puffs...

Kane's is a local treasure. I get a box to bring into work every now and then.

They didn't check out a local bakery in my city that sells a donut with fried apples, cinnamon glaze, and filled with vanilla pudding. It's quite possibly the most delicious thing I've ever eaten :)

The usual suspects. I wonder how many Food Network and Travel channel shows these people watched to make the list.

There is one somewhere off of 580, iirc. Not really sure....

i grew up near one of the original Kripsy Kreme's, and it was a great late night, high school, college, drunken adventure. it was basically an unclean, shitty diner with some of the nastiest people you've ever seen working behind the counter. Didn't matter, though, b/c whenever that sign lit up, regardless of the hour, it was packed.

haha, I even met Nate McMillan there one night (late in his Sonics career). Once they spread out of the southeast, though, It got too big and corporate (one of the more hillarious ipo disasters in recent memory). Our shitty diner became a sterilized hell-hole filled with KK schwag (t-shirts and mugs), and all of the surly, unwashed staff were replaced by cute little bimbos with perfect teeth (the most popular staffer before was an older lady with a single, blackened tooth, twisting out of her sneering mouth as she snatched your cash and crammed it into the register).

So I can't say that I would miss the western version of KK, b/c it would never have been anything like the original KK style. :(
