Pre-loading is downloading, you just can't play it until it's activated. Which should apparently be today sometime?

Why not just set up remote desktop connection? That's how I plan to start the download at 2pm when it releases...

I used to but they block those connections now.

If you have Steam, you can predownload it.

Anyway, when it releases, it'll probably take you an hour to DL at around 400-500kbps

yeah figured that. didnt want to mess with steam though. soppose you have ot use steam don't you?
 
I was under the impression that my Beta would work in place of a preload.. since it wouldnt let you do both. Apparently I was wrong.
 
I think there is a separate non-steam "deploy" client that installs AA3. I think that's how most people are playing. I have it pre-loaded on steam but it is still unreleased.

Edit: If you restart Steam a few times you will eventually get the game validated if it still says it is unreleased for you. It seems the servers are too busy to validate/release it.

Mine's not down updating or whatever it's doing. Apparently in game play is laggy and buggy right now, probably due to the huge load of people trying to play.
