Hope they sell their story for a book and movie deal...then use the money to take a hiking trip to NK. Rinse and repeat.

Hopefully they sell their stories and then are summarily executed for being giant morons and the earnings from said stories are used to cover the cost of their bail back to the taxpayers.

I'm waiting for our Secretary of State to announce that these kids are going to jump bail. That it would be unwise for them to return to Iran. I don't really care one way or the other, but it will be amusing to hear a government official telling us that it's just better for all concerned if they don't show up for their trial.

Were these guys' ethnicities jewish? They were from Elkins Park, PA which is predominantly jewish. so either they are spies for the cia/israel, or they are REALLY REALLY fucking stupid because Iran is the premier jew hating country, why even go near that place?!

"Although the fate of the prisoners gripped America"......really? I didn't even know about this and certainly wasn't "gripped".

"The three Americans — friends from their days at the University of California at Berkeley".....ahhhh, makes sense now. They weren't spies, they were just lost hippies.

I've met people who have gone to Iran recently as tourists. They all had problems. Either way Iran has a lot of really nice places to see and not everyone gets thrown in jail as a spy. This was just political maneuvering. We see it every couple years from one of these countries. Wasn't it North Korea last time? Hell we had this problem with China when our plane had to crash land there too.

Should have left them there. Glad to see my tax dollars hard at working bailing out the mentally challenged.

So if some Americans go to Mexico and get kidnapped by the drug cartels do we leave them there, help them, or just say fuck it they should have had K&R insurance?

Leave them. If you are fully aware of the potential dangers of visiting a specific locale, and you decide to go anyway, you deserve whatever happens to you. The government shouldn't be responsible for bailing your dumb ass out.

Same goes for the dumbasses that get stuck climbing mountains or lost while hiking. You got in there, you find your way out.

"Look at me, Im a stupid liberal hippie dumbshit who wants to take a hike. I hate America so much that I wont go to Yosemite or Yellowstone, Im going to Iran!"
