This thread proves the point that American's don't understand irony.

1. Saying "Nice Weather" on a rainy day may be a sarcastic remark, but it is most definitelyirony.
2. There is not one single piece of irony in Alanis Morissette's sone, "Isn't It Ironic"

<< Ok, is it just me or is it ironic that this thread poking fun of Americans misuses an apostrophe in the title? >>

I'm assuming that English is not his first language, so I didn't mention it. 😉

Yet more proof...

There is nothing ironic about that. At all. Nada. Bubkiss. Zilch.

Perhaps if it was a thread about ungood grammer and speling...

I was being ironic. Guess you didn't catch it. 😉

anyone remember con air?

Define irony: a bunch of idiots dancing around on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.

haha, I like the fact that the story itself is ironic by proclaiming that Jay Fullmer understood irony. 😀

Funny I guess but that's not really irony now, is it?

Odd that this bloke's picking on that Fullmer lad's English when he misuses words that simple. Oh I get it, but *that's* irony.

This thing works on so many levels.

<< I saw this and thought it was funny so i thought i would share it with you all,
I hope it doesn't cause too much offence 😀:|:Q

San Francisco: [

The Daily Telegraph yesterday spoke to Jay Fullmer, 38, the first American
to get to grips with the concept of irony. "It was weird," Fullmer said, "I
was in London and, like, talking to this guy and it was raining and stuff
and he said, like, great weather, or something like that". "And I thought -
wait a minute, it's like, no way is it great weather" said Fullmer. Fullmer
soon realized that the other man's 'mistake' was deliberate. "This guy was
pretty cool about it," Fullmer said. Fullmer, who is 39 next month and
married with two children, aged 8 and 3, said he planned to use irony
frequently in the future. "I'm using it all the time," he said. "Like last
weekend, I was grilling steaks and I like burned them to cinders and I said,
'Great weather.' /i]

<< That is not ironic ChrichtonsGirl

Alanis Morrisset knows about nothing about irony, which is the only ironic thing about the song hence tying in nicely with the origonal paragraph.
