Yes, because in those 10 minutes he and his clerk would have balanced the budget, brought peace to the Middle East, cured cancer and AIDS, found Gaddhafi, made peace with Iran and North Korea, and save Lois Lane from that buried car.
LOL!

Personally I'd be ecstatic with repealing all corporate taxes as long as all disbursements (dividends, stock options, etc.) are taxed as wage income and all money moved out of the country is taxed at the old corporate rate.

How are we supposed to pay for this jobs bill?

It is not the governments roll to create jobs. Stop free trade, and make companies like apple build factories in the USA.
Agreed. We need free trade only where it clearly benefits our country. If we are showing a trade deficit, we have a net outward flow of wealth and are not being benefited.

I agree with the taxing disbursements and such if it doesn't include those invested in a 401k or ROTH IRA. And get rid of the carried interest bullshit as well.

I hope they pass it. Go patriots, GO! Brilliant move, put Obama back on the defensive - pass it NOW! I like the new found gusto the house has.

Gusto means wasting time in your dictionary? Let put everything on Obama because you know the House has been super successful with all the valid and passed legislation its put through right?

Way to deflect, many good bills have been passed by the house. Repealing obamacare, a budget just to name a few. It's the damn dems in the senate obstructing good legislation. I don't know if you've been paying attention, but NY district 9 just elected a rep who ran on a platform of stopping and repealing obama has passed into law.

Are you not paying attention to what's going on?

Deflect? They knew it wouldn't pass, they just grandstanded. Wasted time. That's all they are doing right now and we are paying them 6 figures to waste time.

So what or where is the REAL Repub jobs bill that actually benefits the working class in and of itself?

I hear them talk about jobs all the time but haven't seen a single thing come from the House except go-nowhere bills that are aimed squarely at Obama's forehead.

Is it going to be anything like "cut taxes and deregulate" that Bush/Cheney pushed so hard at for eight years? Obviously, that didn't work out well for the middle class and the poor. But that's all I've been hearing from the Repubs so far.

I'd really like to hear what the Repubs in Congress have to offer the middle class and the poor, exclusive of the excellent job they've done for all these years for the very rich.

BTW, I did think that prank bill was pretty funny....in and of itself.

If every nation followed your logic there would be no trade.

Free trade greatly benefits the US when trading with a country that is not a rival. Canada is a good example because Canada and USA are complete opposites. Canada has more resources than people, so much of what Canada sells is raw materials like logs and copper. USA has a much better manufacturing base, so USA sells things like machinery, cars, finished products. The two are not competing against each other, so both benefit from free trade. USA gets cheaper raw materials which means the finished products will be cheaper and more competitive in the global market.

That was also the deal when starting free trade with Mexico. The idea was to get raw materials from Mexico and sell finish products back to them. We hear about moving GM plants to Mexico, but for the most part it still works the way it was intended. Mexico's main exports are commodities like oil, silver, and cotton. According to wikipedia, USA's main exports are industrial supplies, capital goods, and consumer goods. Those are all finished products.

Now, once again as with healthcare reform, its "some" of the democrats creating a stink and threatening to either kill the bill or break it up into little mini bills. Im starting to wonder if these so called blue dog democrats are actually planted republicans sent in to simply make a fuss against their own party interest? Republicans will not have the final say. Democrats will have the final say. And just like healthcare reform, in the end the jobs bill will be near worthless.
There are a lot of good things in this bill for the working middle class, the tax cut extension being just one. I expect that to die and never make into the final bill. And you know what that means? A nice huge tax hike for every middle class worker in 2012.
No wonder people are so pissed off at both parties.
This is no time to have a weak president, unsure of his own values, which is exactly what we now have.

I'd like to know what the Repubs have in mind too.

But frankly there's not much use in the House passing something, as we've seen Reid won't let it be brought up for a vote. The media doesn't seem interested in reporting on it either, they're too busy with reporting on (1) Repub candidates' plans and (2) Obama's proposals.

I looked and Romney is supposed to have a pretty detailed jobs/economic plan.

Boehner and Cantor's atm position looks to be:

The two House Republicans proposed potential areas of agreement with Obama, including proposed free trade agreements, new ways to spend highway bill money, a streamlined permitting process, and help for the unemployed based on a jobs program used in Georgia.

I thought the Blue Dogs were swept out of office in the last election?

OK, I just googled, there are only 26 left, the rest were voted out. I don't see what they actually do anyway, the Repubs control the House and don't need the Blue Dogs since there's no filibuster there.

I think there might be maybe 1 left in the Senate? If so, big whoop.

So, you won't be voting for Obama next Presidential election?

You have such a stick up your ass you cant see funny when it dick slaps you upside your thick skull. Like this has a chance in hell of getting to the presidents desk.

This I can agree on why would the total intransigence of the Repuglican party change.

Bluedogs are ex "moderate" Republicans. They were Responsible for the watering down of the Healthcare bill and the LOL Dodd-Frank act.

I, too, find congress wasting time with nonsense funny while America burns to the ground.

Since you're so outraged about the wasted time, are you outraged at all the time Obama wastes running around the country campagning at taxpayer expense?

So, you won't be voting for Obama next Presidential election?

I would seriously consider Romney OR Huntsman. Despite what Romney says, he DID father the idea of Obamacare healthcare for all. And Huntsman realizes when it comes to social issues, he or any president IS the president of ALL the people. A country made up of many many kinds of people.
I find it insulting and reprehensible for any candidate to cut up and separate segments of society into good and bad. As long as people are law abiding and contribute to society, they should not be called out and demoralized because of religion, gender, social status, skin color, age, heredity or sexual orientation. This tactic of pick and chose, divide and separate, that both Perry and Bachmann have long practiced.

I think a lot of disillusioned democrats will sit it out 2012. We already see that happening with local special elections.
Supporting Obama, again, come 2012 is not yet a done deal...

You said it yourself already, the Republican jobs bill is to cut taxes and deregulate. That damn Senate just won't pass it boo hoo. Why can't we let the magic of the maket place work?

According to Romney and the Citizens United ruling, corporations should be taxed at the same rate as the individual tax payer would be who made the same income. If you want them to be given the same benefits and free speech rights as individual people then they should pay the same taxes.

I don't get why the right in this nation seems to feel that corporations should be elevated to a level above everything else and have power over all. At what point did I start living in the Shadowrun universe?

Exactly right. Free trade works best when both countries benefit equally, by trading something of which they have or can efficiently create an excess for something of which they have a perceived deficit. However, in unrestricted free trade we see our manufacturing flowing to China and a huge trade deficit being racked up every month. That means we have a net flow of wealth out of our country. It also means that the resource owners who outsource get ever richer while those on the lower end have reduced opportunities for good jobs. Using government to redistribute these earnings simply empowers government and burns up even more wealth in the redistribution - neither of which are good things.

You have a point there...I have never seen another incumbant President use the taxpayers dime to campaign his next election...

😱😱😱

LOL It is shocking. At this rate, we'll soon have politicians saying things only for the political benefit.
