Bands/Talent that would never make it on American Idol:

Kurt Cobain/Nirvana
Foo Fighters
Queen/Freddie Mercury
Metallica
Pearl Jam/Eddie Vetter
Alice in Chains/Layne Staley

Being able to carry a tune doesn't equate to real song writing. These "Idols" are just lame.

System of a down would be too hardcore for that poppy idol rubbish, worst thing is, is cause we cant think of our own tv shows in Aus, we have Australias Idol! Its even more rubbish than the american version.
 
I think it does a fine job at finding real singing talent, but they obviously aren't going to find bands or incredible guitarists on the show. It's an individual singing competition, don't glamorize it more than what it is.

I think Freddie Mercury could have made it on there... i mean Clay Aiken nearly won.

But any competition where it gets commented that Creed was too hardcore for rock, when Daughtry did them...what do u expect?

Lame would be a show discovering bands that have already sold millions of albums.
