American Idol question

I don't watch the show and i'm not a fan of it. But I know one of the contestants.

How does the process work with the current 36 finalist? Do they drop down to 12 finalist this week?

It's a new scenario this season.

They are breaking up the 36 finalists into 3 groups of 12. After each group performs, they pick the top guy, top girl and top remaining contestant. So 3 go on and 9 are eliminated. Finally, after all 3 groups perform, there is a "wildcard" round where they will pick the last 3 to round out the top 12.

thanks for the explanation. the person that i know sang last night, so tonight they i guess will get the results if they make it or not right?

I don't know. I didn't watch the show.
I read somethings this morning about her not being a favorite.

Jackie is from my high school, same graduation year.

group1 was pretty loaded with talent, at least based on what they were showing during the hollywood/team rounds. Gokey is the front runner, and there's oil rig guy and anoop (who i think might advance due to the slumdog millionaire effect). not even sure who's in group2 or 3.
