I don't know if they did it this way last season (only season I've missed). But in the past haven't they had equal boys and girls and then went down that way? I could swear it would be a night of guys performing and then a night of girls performing and then a vote night. Until they got rid of enough people so that the finalists could all sing on the same night. At least that's the way I remember it.

Tuesday's show description says, "Twelve of the 36 semifinalists perform. Viewer voting begins." The description for next Wednesday's show is this: "In a results edition, three finalists are chosen---and nine hopefuls are cut." So no Thursday show.

ETA - So 9 finalists after 3 weeks? I wonder if there's going to be a show where the viewing audience or the judges get to choose somebody else back to make it an even 10? Must do more research on this. LOL

ETA #2 - Found it!

As opposed to the past two seasons, this year there will be no ?Idol Gives Back? episode, but instead producers have opted to bring back the fan favorite Wild Card Round, with the Top 12 finalists decided by March 10th. This year, 36 semifinalist will duke it out on air with hopes of advancing to the final 12. For three weeks, three contestants from each batch of 12 will advance on. After the first nine are selected, the Wild Card week will feature the judges rounding out the 12 with their three favorites of the remaining 27 contestants.

That first week is stacked, or there's just been too many people that I love this season. But from this group, I'd like to see Danny, Anoop and Michael make it through.

At least Tati-annoying is in this group with some strong competitors, so please let this be the end of her.
 
Hope Casey makes it through that round. It looks brutal matchup wise with the other contestants there. That headcase Tatiana shouldn't even be on.

I'm still stunned that Jamar didn't make it to the top 36..

I can't stand that Tohn chick, and I am a NY'er. She is definitely a treat to the eyes, but her voice makes me want to kick her in the nuts. :|

a little too soft at times, but she actually managed to come out decent, particularly compared to the numerous butcher acts that have been on tonight.

it's been overall bad, very bad. The first guy, the chick with a little pink in her hair, and 1 or 2 others didn't totally suck ass; it's been that bad of a show.
