wait, yesterday was the Season finale?!
there's only 8 episodes?

it wasn't much of a finale. no cliff hanger.
just seemed like a normal episode.

and lol at Jesus floating in a pool.
and turning that water into wine (if his wine glass didn't slip out of his drunk hand)

Show was planned for 10 episodes but Bryan Fuller said they went over budget and had to trim it down.
ahh.. thus why it felt like the season ended abruptly.

I guess he didn't compensate with the shortened season by re-writing the last couple of episodes?

That well and truly sucks. I had no idea. I was thinking about what kind of budget they must have when they did that scene where Ostraca's face was covered with flower petals. I thought 'pretty slick' that must have cost a few shekels. And they toss things like that into the mix all of the time, pretty much at least once or twice per episode.

Hopefully the show has done well enough in the ratings that they'll get a bump for next season. Although I've always wondered how that works for pay tv. I mean it's not like you have advertisers who will pay more or less depending on ratings. You get a fixed amount from the cable companies. I guess if you have a hit like GoT you can gouge the providers but a few ratings points one way or the other, I don't see that making too much of a difference.

what the F is a Mr World?!

I understand people worshipping internet/tech and media (tv/film).
but who worships the world?!

also, why does Internet fall under media??

Mr World is apparently supposed to represent globalization.

Remember that all of the New Gods are representations of concepts that modern people worship - hence why Media and Technology are both gods.

It might be prestige. I'm not sure what that gets you in the end, but money's likely part of it. More prestige = more people willing to give you money to do more things, with fewer questions.

It is subscriptions. Starz is in direct competition with other pay-per channels. To make it in the pay-per market you have to have shows that people want to watch that they can't see on another channel. You need water cooler talk shows.

so the old Gods are in mortal form?
and if they die, they get resurrected if they have believers.

so Vulcan can be reborn?

and if Weds can see the future, then I cant wait till Ep3 to find out why he didn't tell Laura that he's going to rescue Shadow

I am enjoying this season more than last year. It seems they fixed my issue with the overpowering music, and drawn out scenes.

they are gods yet they can be killed with regular weapons?
ie: Thor

and why are they in America?
why not stay in their respective home countries?

From the last episode they said that they could be killed by their own hands. I would assume that it's because he killed himself is the important part, not the weapon of choice. It's also possible it was some new version of some old weapon as this show loves to do that, case in point Wednesday's car.

In season one they said the people came to this new land and brought their gods with them. My guess would be they're not locked in America but as this is where the battlelines are being drawn, this is where they're all gathering.

Yes, it is that he killed himself that is important. It is an act of sacrifice, which is the source of their power. Other gods can be killed by mortal weapons only when they no longer have enough worshipers to maintain their immortality, otherwise 'killing' them with mortal weapons just causes them to resurrect elsewhere.

The idea is that these are new versions of the old gods. When people brought Odin to America there slowly came to be an American Odin, embodying the values and beliefs of the worshipers of Odin in America. It is a unique version of Odin, and supposedly there would still be a Norse Odin back in the Scandinavian countries. They are the American Gods. The new gods are international and represent a globalization of religion, that is why they are lead by Mr. World, the very embodiment of globalization, a single global culture.

Season 3 starts tonite.

and it's 10 eps instead of 8!!!
It really feels like they are stretching this out too far. The show is now at like the second to last chapter of the book events wise, and has just stopped moving forward. This is not a show that can be kept going indefinitely, it needs a conclusion.

so i started watching ep1.
so contrived.

shadow could have avoided being teamed up with Odin again if he just told his boss that he's not going to pass the background check for his new position.

s3e4: sloppy writing!

in e3, you see the gold coin roll 1/2 way between the stone slab and the door.
in this eps, the gold coin is partially UNDER the stone slab.

also, in e3, Sweeney seems well preserved for a guy who's been dead for months.
in this eps, his blood is everywhere.

yeah, i know... plot device.. needed blood to invoke the spell.
but it's like a completely different set of script writers between e3 and e4.

sloppy writing is sloppy.
uggg...

wtf is the point of another male Mr World?
Just leave it at the new incarnation of Ms. World.
or let him switch back and forth between the 2.

why confuse everyone with a 3rd person as World???
