Exactly.

Then call back and cancel it. ;)

AMEX has gone downhill recently. They no longer have the prestige that was once attached to their name.

That is what happens when they make it so easy for everyone to have one. Same thing with luxury cars and designer clothes. The moment anyone can own them, they are not all that special anymore.

Chase just raised my interest rate from 10 to 13%, I haven't missed any payments they said it was to "maintain profitability" on my account, in other words, a lot of people have not been paying their cards so were raising the rates on those who still are to help make up for lost $$$..nice, the Gov. bails out these crooks and they get to take a dump on customers..

I wonder if these cash back awards are factoring into this. It's got to just burn their asses to have to send out checks.

I would imagine these gimmicks will be coming to an end.

They raised our rate pretty heavily, we are now in process of paying down the card and killing it once it is done. Amex is a joke.

It's an Amex Blue, that's why. I don't think they treat the "credit card" customers as well as the "charge card" customers.

That's interesting. I have a costco card with them and am in similar credit shape as you. I wonder if they're going to pull this ish with me.

I was at Costco this past weekend and they had a lady piratically begging people to sign up for the Coscto AmEx Card.

Right now, I actually would not cancel any credit cards (My statement above WAS a joke).

You never know if you may need it later.

When the economy turns around, then you can clear out your old credit cards.

Went to pay for gas today on my Amex Blue Cash and was declined. Imagine an O.O emoticon on my face as I stared at the cashier, paid with another card, and promptly ran home to review my account online anticipating for the first time ever I had been the victim of credit card fraud.

Upon seeing a whopping $74.13 balance on my account, I called to ask what the dealio' was. The rep over the phone basically told me that effective today my account was canceled and that I should have received an e-mail (which I did not get, and after asking for it to be re-sent still do not have, and I get ALL other Amex e-mails) and that a letter would be coming in the mail.

My Amex is my primary card. I use it for everything from bills to groceries, and I pay it off in full every month, never carrying a balance from one statement to the next. I just pulled my credit report and was rated 718-732 between the 3 various credit reporting bureaus, and I have a total of six other credit cards with limits ranging from $3,000 to 35,000, only one card has a current balance of approximately $5,000 that does not show on the credit report due to the fact that I used it in the place of not having my checkbook and the payment for it has already hit from my bank account.

Credit score: 720 (ish)
Loans: 30k (truck + bike combined)
Available credit: 82,000 on all cards (0% revolving)

Amex, WTF!

yeah, amex cut my costco amex limit in 1/2 :(
i never carry a balance

credit score: 805 (fico)
loans: mortgage $80k on a $500k house
total credit from all credit cards: $150k :Q

op, get a costco membership, and get a costco amex.
