American express logo on bestbuy gift card

I recently received 2 gift cards from bestbuy that clearly have the american express logo printed on the back. They numbers on the cards are both 15 digits, which is how long a amex card number is. Does this mean the gift cards can be used as amex charge at any store that takes amex? If not, why is there an amex logo on the back of bb gift cards?

I have no idea as to if you can, but theoretically if you can't, the reason the logo is there could be that Best Buy using AMEX to power their gift card service. Kinda like how Target uses Amazon to power their online shopping service.

Again I don't really know though.

This. BB probably uses AMEX to run their gift card system.

It's AMEX money, but you can use it only at BB.
This is what I would think. I'm sure when the numbers go through their authorization system, they'll cross-reference the vendor ID to make sure it's a BB store or website. They can do that sort of thing you know...they're AMEX.
