American Dad....

I've never seen it, but I thought AD only has 3-4 episodes total. Kinda quick to be showing reruns on Adult Swim, dontcha think?

I agree it's a different style of humor....and that style would be "not funny." I didn't see this weeks, but the only remotely funny parts last week were Donald Trump and Donald Trump's reprise.
 
American Dad has potential but it definitely needs some things changed.


Family Guy:
Peter - Makes the show, show is centered on him
Brian - Alcoholic dog
Meg - boring character, but she is there to be made fun of
Chris - Evil monkey bringer and has some funny lines that add to the show
Lois - Voice of reason, but she loosens up sometimes so it is fun
All his neighbors who are AWOL right now... When will they bring them back???
Great additions to Peters life.
Put it all together with some flashbacks and quick humor that some people get others don't and it works well.

American Dad:
I dont know the peoples names so here it goes
Dad - Boring except for when he calls in things to be done by the CIA
Wife - Ugly and boring, annoying, can't wait til she is gone off the scene
Son - Irritating, however his japanese/chinese friend works well, scenes with his friends are fine but scenes with just him are plain Irritating.
Daughter - For some reason the show seems centered on her and sometimes on the dad. I would classify her with the wife but I can stand her in the scene but not the whole show.
Alien - Works well, funny lines, likeable character when he is not whining
Fish - Short quick lines add to the show, could get boring if he was on the scene for too long.
I really, really hate the political plugs they put into this show!

Overall they need to fix the following things with American Dad:
The dad needs more humor - We are used to peter and homer and they give us a father figure who is too controlling, egotistical, and right-wing political.... WTH
Wife - DO SOMETHING quick!
Son - More shots of his friends doing something together that is a crazy plot.
The scene where they ask the chinese guy to get a camera and he gets upset because they assumed he had a video camera because he was chinese. and then they cut to his closet full of cameras... that was great

 
Seth M definitely has an obvious political leaning. It bleeds into this show in a bad way, because they aren't funny moments, just obvious pot shots at conservatives. Which would be ok, I guess, if the show were actually funny. But it isn't. The only funny character is the dad, and they just aren't writing good stuff for him. They are trying wayyy too hard with the alien.
 
I watched Family Guy and recorded it on my PVR at the same time. Then I played CS:S while recording but not watching American Dad. I'll watch it if I get bored or something.
 
American dad has its high points but they are not many, way too much like the Family guy but worse.

Two bad points with it, the alien and the fish, expecialy the fish, the damn talking fish, there was obviosly not even two braincells rubbed together to get that idea.

Acutally the idea is pretty funny, it just should have been a 3 second segment where they showed it happening in a flashback. Not a main character.
 
Not really impressed with American Dad...

Dad - not liking the character, isn't that funny and they're already relying on him pulling CIA stunts to fix everything
Wife - no personality, what is going on there?
Daughter - Meg v2
Son - annoying
Alien - funny-ish, had a few good lines
Goldfish - like it

Some of the FG humour is in there (dragging the dog down the street) but I spent most of the second episode like this: 😕

At least FG is back and we're not stuck with AD as the replacement.
