Dark haired girl sounded like she had a triple sized wad of gum in her mouth. I didn't catch what she said, and didn't want to ruin more of my music listening to try figuring out nonsense. I could understand the rest. Baltimore test wasn't great. You need people to speak freely to get a good grip of accent. The sound structure of that causes people to slow down and enunciate.

Southern accents get sooo much worse than that. I dig watching Europeans listen to it and just blink. Reminds me of Americans in Glasgow, or Newcastle. There's a similar level of "holy shit wat?"

I still think the UK reigns supreme when it comes to making the English language experience 'hull integrity issues.' I don't think I've ever spoken to a scouser I didn't think could be choking on something.

I understood the girls just fine. Except the first guy, the guys weren't even trying.

Even Rab is easier to understand that the girls in the OP!

Ahh, Rab. Glasgow's answer to Homer and Archie. Good stuff.

I just wanted to know why his son was named Gash. I know it's supposed to mean clever, but I've also heard it used to describe pussy, so....

The girls I could understand. The cartoon guy was just stupid. Although he did say the ultimate NASCAR phrase. “She dun blowed up”

Love watching the British Baking Championship and the show Impossible. The variety of accents is astounding. We finally gave up and turned on the closed captioning for some shows.

I have probably told this story before, but... I was sitting at the bar in a Chilis in Fort Worth, Texas. A woman sat next to me and we chatted a bit. She said I had an accent, and asked where I was from. I said, no, you have the accent. She had a southern drawl, and I talk like a midwesterner. She persisted, so I said, let's flip through all of the stations on the television, and see if more people talk like me, or talk like you. Debate settled.

Judging by my experience with people in Southern Alabama, not everyone down South has a drawl.

There's definitely an accent there, but it's sort of lyrical not like finger nails on a blackboard.

I feel bad for the folks with a Jersey or Brooklyn accent. In this part of NJ, fortunately, I don't hear the really bad Jersey accent very often.

There's Fox animated comedy, Bob's Burgers I think. If I'm channel surfing and come across it, I change the channel as quickly as possible. The whole family has a really malignant Joisey accent.

I'm from TX originally but don't really carry my accent. It does come out when I'm talking on the phone, bizarrely. I also have a tendency to start mimicking people's accents around me if I spend too much time with them. I'm not sure if that's something to be concerned about.

The Tennessee accent is the dumbest sounding accent of all. I wouldn't be able to take them seriously. You could be a physicist from Tennessee and I would still think you sound like a dumb-ass.

Paging @mikeymikec !

We need an alternative source of the first clip!

I think whoever posted it on imgur then deleted the post; I tried feeding the ID from the source of my post here into imgur directly and it said it couldn't find it. It irritates the hell out of me when people post stuff on imgur then delete it later! Maybe they plan to repost it in the hope of getting more likes?

Yeah, I'd tried a few ways to pull it up there with the ID embedded in the post, had wondered if it was deleted or if I was just doing it wrong.
