How has that got anything to do with the topic in hand? The OP is about democracy in the US not geopolitical power.
I was speaking about our diversion into war with china.
For the official record, I don't give a rats ass about what a few people in another country think about the US. I'm sure the feeling is mutual for most Europeans.

Not yet.
What really concerns me is far more fundamental that who certifies the vote.

Back to the topic at hand. If China invades Taiwan the EU is going to do nothing but have a protest and blame the US for not stopping it. There going to demand that action be taken and they won't care how many US soldiers have to die in the process.
Taiwan must be the new CRT (which was the new Afghanistan which was the new Potato Head which was the new Dr. Seuss which was the new caravans which was the new emails which was the new Benghazi which was the new Grey Poupon which was the new Kenya). You fucking fools never learn. Go bark in the Taiwan thread, jackass.

As odd as this may sound... maybe it's best that Trump/GOP just convincingly win in 2024 instead of a repeat of stolen election lies which will tear us apart.

Who am I kidding, we're getting our GOP overlords one way or another. Let's just hope they keep to their motto in that recent article "we treat minority cultures decently."

I’ll just say this...2024 will probably see Dems contesting the election instead of Reps.
I don't think so - by far the most likely outcome is a normal win/loss as we've always seen them. The real danger is in an election closer than 2020 where there might be enough energy for a coup attempt and then we have a civil war of some sort.

Kind of funny how you're once again going into the crazy doomsaying about an election three years from now where you don't even know the candidates and are now trying to bargain with your new overlords.

I stand by my previous statement, I think you enjoy panicking.

If red states replace the actual winner with their ‘winner’ , Dems will be definitely contesting.

I don't see anything other than the normal wild accusations and rebuttals happening.
Three years is an eternity in the political world, who knows who's going to grab the spotlight by 24. I don't think Biden will run again, Harris doesn't seem to have a chance, maybe Newsom will take a run at it. On the republican side, I got nothing. I can't think of anyone that isn't radioactive.

Radioactive to whom? Everyone thought Trump was radioactive the moment he came down the escalator. Radioactive is the primary measure of popularity in the Republican party these days.

While I agree a normal continuance/transition is the most likely scenario by far I think you are drastically underestimating the possibility of Republicans attempting to overturn the election if they lose. It will be much harder in 2024 than it was in 2020 because they don't control the federal government, but they are also actively purging the officials that refused to play along.

So sure, let's say it's a 90% chance that things go off as normal. That's pretty good, until you realize that 10% means essentially the end of a 230 year old constitutional system and/or a civil war.

It's important to note that not only are Republicans doing the normal complaints when a party loses, they are actively firing and chasing out officials who certified the correct results. The only purpose of this is to intimidate future officials who might choose to do their jobs over the party's wishes.

Liz Cheney for example, super right wing Republican with unimpeachable conservative credentials, has been cast out of the party for one reason and one reason alone - she said the plan and obvious truth that Joe Biden won the presidency in 2020. This is a purge, and more moderate conservatives need to wake up.

Barring passage of substantial federal legislation, or the "conservative" majority on the Supreme Court suddenly finding some common sense and start to honor their oath to the Constitution, my opinion is that is very likely the 2024 election will be stolen (including House and Senate seats as well as the Presidency-and if Trump is the winner, then our democracy is not in decline, it is over in all but name. We are facing an existential crisis and the bad players are holding all the cards politically.

And at this point substantial fed legislation is mighty slim-my guess is less than ten percent. And a change in Supreme Court policy-0.005% chance.

Stolen how though? You mean Biden will win and the Republicans will overturn his victory?

If so, I think you may be discounting the very real chance that Biden responds to that with 'no'. Of course this is very bad in its own way but the bad players are not holding anywhere close to all the cards - Biden has the army. (and people think the army leans right wing but from indications before the 2020 election Biden got more support from the military than Trump did.

For the official record, I don't give a rats ass about what a few people in another country think about the US. I'm sure the feeling is mutual for most Europeans.

You mean YOUR diversion into war with China? Which has nothing to do with this topic, and started as a "how about"?

Your second sentence sounds like you have no interest in discussing the topic at hand, so what exactly are you doing in this thread?

Aren't wild accusations and rebuttals what conservatives essentially feed on now a day? You're projecting again.

I'm sorry, but calling out morons, as you were called out for being a moron, always adds value to any conversation. It identifies those who should not be listened to very seriously.

Lol, seems so. You see, they have the vehicle (of your choosing) in reverse. 🤔

The GOP has essentially abandoned democracy, as have a good portion of their voters.

IMO, the Repubs haven't abandoned democracy, it's that democracy has rejected them and their beliefs. This is all on them and them alone. Their need to cling to Trump and his racist beliefs while humiliatingly defending his horrific incompetent performance as POTUS has dragged that party down from the gutters and into the sewers of political infamy.

That they need Trump the Destroyer of Nations as a unifier is ironic in the sense that the best thing that could happen to that party of theirs is if Trump denounces his citizenship and emigrates to Russia taking his base of loonies with him.
