The messege doesn't bother me but those lyrics are sloppy, trite and sophomoric. All they do is make me miss the Clash a little more.

It wasn't until I lived outside the US for sometime that I started to recognize the amount of nationalistic and militaristic rhetoric and symbolism we Americans are bombarded with.

Not sure if I understand what you're saying, but I do think America is more in love with it's flag than it is with the principals it was founded upon.

Too much flag worshipping, not enough idealism.

I wondered what people's opinions of the message of this song. It's called, "America Is Not The World" by Morrissey (who is British).
The fact that the creators of culture in western countries are idiots is one of the main causes of our increasingly stupid and thoughtless societies.

Umm, no? I have been to many European countries, and they like us, even in France. Oh, I must not know what I'm talking about, right? It is the governments that mainly don't like our current government (President) all that much. Most of the people like us just fine, though the writer was kind of right when he said that we are lost in our own little bubble.

I would say the people judge you on your governments actions

Here's how the world views some selected countries.

With Iran included in this year?s poll, it has displaced the US as the nation with the most countries giving it a negative rating.

Specifically which "culture" do you speak of? Pop culture?

It wasn't too long ago the Brit's heads were too big...
I sense a little bit of jealousy.

But have no fear! The brits will tag along on the neoconservative movement :D

I am speaking of popular culture insofar as I have experienced it.
