my friend works at Best Buy.

a few days ago a lady brought in an iPod to get it repaired, she told her that they can't fix it because it's out of the warranty. so she went to the store manager - the manager gave her the same answer.

so the customer went to a different Best Buy and talked to the manager there and finally pursuaded them to repair it. now the customer is suing my friend for "lying" to her about not being able to get it fixed. :Q

although i've seen and heard of people trying to make some easy money at the expense of others on the media, this is the first time it's happened to someone I know. it's completely unjustified, and it's obvious this lady's not gonna win (but who knows). it's not like my friend lied to her on purpose :Q

jesus...

Either shens (on you or your friends part) or she's stupid as **** because such a suit will automatically get thrown out (you sue the company not the employee).
Not to mention the several other things that are wrong with a suit like that.

Ya, basically the first store stuck to the rules and couldnt help the customer while the second store made an accomodation for the customer... in order to retain her business probably. I dont see any lying there, and I'm sure that's how the judge will see it too. And ya, your friend isn't getting sued - best buy is...

The first rule of suing = get the guy with the deep pocket.

Is her lawyer the guy that sue the cleaners for 50M for missing pants?

You might want to rethink judging an entire country,250 million people, based on this one incident.

If you are going to judge anyone, blame the f----ing lawyer especially the one that took the case.

I hate f---ing lawyers.

i'm not blaming the country. i just think it's something that's really grown into our culture.

freedom, taking away native american land, fast food, racial diversity, and dumb lawsuits.

edit: i was being sarcastic too. i love this country with all my heart, i just wouldn't die for it.

Your friend has actually been notified that a lawsuit has been filed? Or she said she was going to sue?

Indeed... has your friend been served? Or is this just an irate old bag blowing wind up your friend's pipe just to vent her frustration?

Lying from Best Buy employees doesn't surprise me. I wouldn't be surprised if he has lied about warranties and service plans before.

It would only be illegal if they lied in order to get her business or in order to turn her away for discriminatory reasons.

So as a business they have the right to turn away anyone for any reason. And she has the right to go somewhere else, sounds like the system works

If you really could sue someone just for lying, very nearly every politician would be completely bankrupt.

You don't love something much if you aren't willing to give it your all. Not saying you need to sign up for the army and go die in a war overseas (we can take talk like that to P&N) but there are some things that I love, and would go to the grave for them....my family, religion, and country being some of them.

Did he get served or not? I'm guessing not, but either way, what damages could she claim as a result of the lie? She's getting her item fixed. This is very doubtful at best.
