What a moronic puff piece. If anyone has "let evil prevail," it is the White House and Pentagon, who have, through their neglect, let OBL live, let the Taliban largely retake Afghanistan, and have consistently been unwilling to dedicate sufficient troop strength to Iraq to seal a true victory there (assuming such a thing is even possible). Anyone in this thread or out of it who feels so strongly about "letting evil prevail" is welcome to join the Army - they can use your help.
Since it is so easy to catch OBL hiding somewhere in the world, you now have 2 years to get it done. THe clock starts ticking now.
Sorry, but Schumer is already making excuses for that.
Asked about Iraq and he said "I am not the commander in chief" I am sure they will take credit for everything good that happens for the next two years and blame all the bad on Bush.

And everyone says Dems are stupid. Seeing as how Republicans have been blaming Clinton for everything the past 6 years, I guess payback is a bitch.

THe economy was starting to go down right before he left office, but i dont anyone blames hime for that.

If you're going to pony up with say...$400 billion U.S. dollars (which is certainly less than the repubs have spent in Iraq and Afghan.), I bet I could find OBL!

It miight do it, but it might not either. 400B would probably not be enough to fine 1 person out of 6 billion on the planet.

Its impossible to do what we want to do in IRAQ. See : African history : Euro exodus and intervition / civil war bettween ethnic groups for reference.

I sincerely hope that we don't cut and run. Instead, we need to design a new course of action that will lead us to victory in Iraq... "victory" being defined by a stable government, of some type, that is able to successfully provide security and freedom for the people of Iraq. We can not lose focus on that goal.

Yeah, but after Bush was elected. Everyone with any sense knew GWB was nothing but a bad moon rising.

See my sig. If GWB deosn't care about catching him, what can congress do? Or are you ceding the control of foreign policy to them??

Yeah, I didn't think so.

That article lost all credibility the second it said we could have won Vietnam if we had just stuck it out a little while longer. We stuck it out a "little longer" for FOURTEEN YEARS. And after all that time we had nothing to show for it.

Much like Germany after World War 1, reactionary elements in our country have somehow convinced themselves after the fact that our military was "let down" by its civilian counterparts... just when we were on the verge of winning. Riiiiight.

Same thing will happen in Iraq when we leave. Since the prospects of developing a secular democracy there are very, very low... when we eventually do decide we've paid enough blood for something that won't materialize, the right wing will blame the 'traitors' and 'subversive elements' in our society for weakening our will.... just when we were on the verge of winning. Riiiiiight.

I would like to point out that at no time before 2001 had foreign policy hinged on specifically targeting a single person. The US just supported or encouraged them to go somewhere else or for something to happen to them. Qaddafi was in a tent about 500 yards from a bomb when we decided to bomb Libya. It would have been a 'nice' thing if he was caught in the mess. No administration has ever said were gonna take you out tomorrow because its an incredibly hard thing to pull off in a big world.
