Funny how a thread about Intel's illegal trade practices gets hijacked by Intel Marketing Dept.

here, an absolutely correct engineering fact is dissed as marketing. LOL.

another poster on that same thread also gets dissed as an intel viral marketer even though his points regarding TDP are entirely correct.

It's been a while since I stuck my head in that filthy, nasty place.

Once upon a time, it was merely an AMD-centric (and biased) website where those of us who used K6's and "original Athlons" would discuss the chips and how to OC them.

IIRC, Tom's Hardware once referred to the founder of AMDZone as a "holy warrior".

Maybe the worst "tech" site out there...?

wow...it's like a revival meeting over there.

ZootyGray: "They should know that we support the collaborative superiority of AMD rather than the encripplement of spintel. Again, I tell you all this is clearly written in the Revelation. (the mindless, cheering, and following the purple whore riding the beast). This is the convention requiring adherence if you wish to be a spintel fanboy. AMD works in innovative cooperation, and makes no such demands; neither is there need to kill oneself for adherence."

"Peace and grace be our guide."

Then again, he is canadian.

"Spintel" is as annoying as "Micro$oft". Dumbass children. I love AMD and use their products, but living in a reality distortion field is for morons.

the best thing about that site is the fact that the people there are deadly serious, and yet they don't even recognize the most basic realities regarding processor design and manufacturing. i got banned for saying stuff like "pipelines are good" lol.

Its good that public networking locations like AMDzone exist. They exist for a reason, some people truly feel the way they express themselves in that site.

If that site did not exist then those folks would not have this aspect of their mental condition engaged and exercised.

I see it as no different than a cancer patient support forum where out of anger/pain for their cancer-induced symptoms they get some manner of release by railing against the greedy drug-companies who are clearly withholding cancer-curing life-saving research results because the CEO's want to milk the people with continual medical prescriptions for pain killers and chemo drugs, etc.

The people in that forum need that forum and the opportunity it provides to release, find support, rail against, etc as they cope with the real-world environment they find themselves enveloped within as they step away from their keyboard.

I would not want to take that away from them. Let them have their fantasy world, their place of serenity and safety where they feel like they are in control of the informations out there and no one is duping them because they know the real skinny on whats going down (in their minds of course).

There is more harm to come from vanquishing these places of retreat for these folks than the harm that comes from them being possible incubation grounds for conscripting new recruits into their line of thinking. It will happen, people without cancer wage war against drug makers out of the perception the drug makers are withholding cancer-curing medicines, but I wager this devil is easier to contend with than the devil you'd create by suppressing the truly cantacerous folks who need a place to vent their fury at the world.

At least they have a place to post their "opinions" freely and they aren't all on AT...

I remember there was a "post your wallpapers" thread over there. I posted a wallpaper I had been using, a photo of an intel chip. That was back when the coppermine came out and I had one overclocked past 1GHz. That was 9 years ago when the original Athlons were popular. My post got deleted and I got a nastygram from a moderator.

I joined AMDZone 5 months ago, posted several times on the first day of joining and quickly realised how fanatical a lot of their members are. I haven't logged on to their forum since that first day.

I didn't realise how fanatical people can be about a CPU and GPU company, until I joined AMDZone.

Anantech and AMDZone are like chalk and cheese; people here may not agree with what you say or buy, but at least they generally don't flame you for your opinion or purchase.

Mention Intel over there and you get the verbal lynch mob in response (supposedly Intel is the product of the Devil).

Thankfully not all forums are like AMDZone. Anandtech

I would say its a common misconception. Breaking the cycle of self reinforcing psychosis is imperative to allow healing. All they are doing is working themselves deeper and deeper into their disorders. Sites like these are NOT a positive release but a flowering bed where they can further their diseases.

This is similar to the notion that "if you catch your kid smoking, make him smoke 4 packs in one day... he will be sick of it for life.
Research has shown that the vast majority of time this just worsens things.
:)

however, software is the only way to cover truly exotic cases that generic coverage will miss (there's always a hole or two), so software platform testing is still absolutely vital.

It's weird. In other threads, some of the posters who seem insane here have accurate, well-reasoned posts.

even the most insane person can't possible ONLY say insane things. They are bound to have a thought that at least sounds rational and coherent. :)
