If you could find a link for one, I would appreciate it...
To my knowledge, AMD has never had K8L or K9 in any of their roadmaps. Nor has K8L ever been designed to be quad core...

Please link to a roadmap that has K10 in it. I would appreciate it...

don't sound so happy, no AMD means intel could charge the earth for their chips and probably would

Meh, Intel's pricing structure was the same before AMD was a serious competitor as it is now. Top-end chip is always ~$999 and prices go down from there. I have a hard time believing that Intel would change that even if AMD returned to minor-player status.

That was my point...official AMD roadmaps don't have the "K" designation at all, at least none that I have seen in recent times (the last few years).

As to "personal crusades", the only one I'm on here is factual.

Please provide verifiable facts that Barcelona is K10. If you can do that, I will shut up about it. Until then, Barcelona is a K8 chip.

If Barcelona, is K8++, then Core MA would certainly be classified as P6++++; since the amount of microarchitectural differences between Hammer and Barcelona is approximately the same as that between Banias and Kentsfield.

Forums at AMD
Watch the video

K10 = Is the K8L, but after a while they declared it incorrect due to it being the new generation. The reason for the L was low power was because of going from 90nm to 65 nm, going from 89w to 65w, but due to it being a new generation, and a being quad core, it can be considerably called the K10. The only reason they kept the K8L was for comparison purposes from the transition from 90nm to 65nm in terms of power.

Problem is, K8L does not fit the Agena and Barcelona cores, and since it should be "faster" (not proven yet) than the K8 cores, but requires more wattage, new name?

This interview they clearly stated that in the beginning... I didn't hear K8++. I did google K8++

At least one architect at AMD indicated a preference for the name K8++, but it seems unlikely that anyone in marketing or PR would share this point of view.

Marketing scheme much?

LOL, who cares what a CPU is called, what it's codename is. It's all about performance (and power and price etc.).

So?

So do you hear anyone here or on any other forum call CMA P6++++ ??

No, because Intel never called it that.

Where here Henri Richard, AMD Executive Vice President, calls Barcelona K8L multiple times.

I'm still waiting for a link from Viditor quoteing anyone at AMD using the name K10 to describe Barcelona, or any current project for that matter.

Did I ever dispute that K8L being a legit stand in?? Go back and read my posts in this and other threads.

WATCH THE VIDEO.

Hear Giuseppe Amato.

"You mentioned the K8L, that's a basically it's our K10. The K8L was an intended name to indicate the low power of the K8...." <--- Verbatim.

Firstly, you should reread that link...Richard never once calls Barcelona K8L. He does talk about the showing of K8L, but I believe he is referring to Brisbane (65nm K8, also known as the low-power K8).
Second of course is the Inq article and of course the video that Rice found...

I've attempted to watch the video twice with no luck. I really wish people would stop with the flash based wrappers.

Anyway, I'll have to take your word that's what he said.

You should really try to update your flash...it's an interesting interview.
He opens by specifically correcting the K8L misnomer (as I had come to understand previously, K8L was Brisbane...the "L" stood for low power), but he goes on to talk about Barcelona in great detail...
For instance, the on-die Northbridge will no longer be locked to the cores and can run at full speed.

Kudos to Ricemarine for linking it!!
