w00t! AMD's stock is currently at $23.31, Intel is at $23.92 😀

now I'd like to see intel drop down, or AMD go up another couple dollars, and I will be one happy camper 🙂

just goes to show: AMD > * 😉

just proving how the little guys are slowly but surely overcoming the big guys....it was very recently where AMD's stock was ~$8, while Intel's was ~$31

not anymore 😉😀

This doesn't have any real significance since AMD's market cap is a piss in the bucket compared to Intel.

i did a mock stock portfolio in an economics class. i used both intel and amd stock, plus some others. they are both doing better (at least over the last 6 weeks), but amd stock is growing much more rapidly.

oh, and i totally out did everybody else. we all started with $100K, and i had about $10K more than the second best (it ended a week ago, so amds stock didnt help quite as much).

INTC = P/E of 20.77, Market Cap of 151 billion, ~15 Billion in cash with no debt.
AMD = P/E of 53.14, Market Cap of 8.52 billion, 1.19 billion cash with 2.04 billion of debt

If you think these stocks are valued equally you are out of your mind.

AMD > Intel but Intel is much, much, much, much bigger.

Havn't been looking at CPU progress for a while, but are AMD chips still running hotter than Intel chips?

No, P4s are the flamethrowers now.

my system sits under my desk and with some of the older amd's or p4 systems i used to have, the air coming off the box would be warm because of all the heat the cpu generated.

with the amd64, the air is cool even cold leaving me with cold legs in the winter, brrrrrr.

seriously, this sux. now i'm going to have to find room on my desk for my box.

ironically, i used to move my other boxes to the desk because they got too warm, now i'm moving my amd64 box to the desk because it doesn't run warm enough.

😀

love the quote

Fixed that for you, er partially.

Yes and no, Pentium M's are cold as ice, Pentium 4 = flamethrower

You'll notice that I said nothing about the P-M as it isn't a desktop chip. The Pentium-M won't be so cool when they start to look to ramp up the clock speed on them, but I'd guess they'd be on par with or slightly cooler than Athlon 64s.

I hope you realize that just the $ value of a single stock tells you jacksh!t about a company.

The company could have 10 shares of $100 million each or 100 million shares of $10 each.

Somebody else explained it above this post too.
