Soon ... To my newcastle. The main reason is the old AGP slut and I don't care about cpu that much, but since Conroe seems to overclock better and even clock by clock is faster it makes sense for me to upgrade to conroe instead of AM2.

I would like to keep my socket 939 board and just get a cheap X2, but the problem is that I currently only have a gig of DDR RAM, and I really don't feel like investing in another gig of DDR when it's sort of old tech by now (to have 2 GB total). So should I do that anyway and make that cheap upgrade last me at least another 18 months or so, or should I jump platforms?
Exactly, this is pretty much for early next year when Vista comes out, I will want 2 gigs then but will feel stupid spending money on a gig of DDR in early 2007. However jumping to AM2 or socket T won't be cheap and might not offer that many advantages over a s939 X2 and 2 GB DDR.Originally posted by: Aflac

1 gb should last you for a little while longer (at least until Vista comes out, anyway). An X2 wouldn't be a bad choice.

The X6800 is supposed to be available on the day of launch. The lower model Conroes and Allendales are available on the 7th.
