i wonder how they're doing in market share...

I was going to buy some shares but my broker would not let me...granted he is a family friend, but he said that it would not be a wise investment.

OFFICIAL......CONFIRMED!!

<< AMD Announces a new system for counting their net loss. To stay on Tab with Intel's debt. Counting money accurately is simply an unfair marketing measure and AMD offers a new system for counting AMD Money lost each quarter using a new Model Numbering System. For example,

a 4 Million dollar loss = Model #1000-
9 million dollar loss= Model #2000-
and 12 Milliion dollar loss= Model#3000-
>>

AMD wants to sell those processor at a loss to gain marketshare from intel, that's my opinion.
bozack, your broker is wise!

Thats funny.

(sarcasm)AMD probably isn't selling as well cuz they're processors are now harder to unlock and overclock(/sarcasm). 😉

This time last year everyone wanted an Athlon to OC. Now OC'ers and other enthusiasts are buying P4 northwoods and pumping them up. 😱:disgust:😀:disgust:😱🙁😱:disgust:😀:|:Q:|😀:disgust:😱🙁😉🙁😱:disgust:😀:|:Q:|😀:disgust:😱🙁😉🙁😱:disgust:😀:|:Q:|😀:disgust:😱🙁😉🙁😱:disgust:😀:|:Q😛😎:frown:😕

I dont think that OC'ers amount to anything over 1% of the total marketshare for CPU's so I dont believe that OC'ers switching from AMD to NW P4's will impact market share and/or earnings. I read, forgot from where, that AMD claims they've gained 1% market share (bringing them up to 21%).

Anyway, its not really the CPU biz thats hurting AMD... its the Flash biz.

Bozack, it sounds like your broker isn't in the "buy low, sell high" camp. I might pick up a little AMD myself in a bit; I can't imagine things going downhill from here for the company. Then again, I could be entirely wrong.

Yeah, yeah, I know about tiny enthusiast marketshare. My little quote wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I'll go edit it to try and make it make more sense.

Same thing here.

Probably true.

Well...he initially said that His Company (Merrill Lynch) was not advising that anyone with them purchase AMD if asked.

Then he personally said that he would not recommend it at the time, and if anything he would recommend buying Intel

I trust him more than I trust myself with this stuff 🙂

AMD shares fell over $1 in Europe after this news, so the price might be going down for awhile. However, AMD once again posted record cpu sales, so that's not to blame.
