AMD's Dirk Meyer interview on Intel settlement, ATI aquisition

Q Having reached a legal truce with Intel, do you anticipate having a closer relationship with its CEO, Paul Otellini?

A Honestly, up to this point we have no relationship. I've been on the job not all that long, and I think the best I can hope for is we continue to have not much of a relationship. That actually could be a positive compared to the toxic form of relationship that's existed between these two companies' leaders in the past.

Funny question, interesting response.

Well if Intel had laid $1.25B on Nvidia, I'll bet Jen-Hsun Huang would be all Peaches & Cream too. 😀

Jen-Hsun Huang would never change his tune even if Intel offered him $1.25B with no strings attached.
His ego will never allow it.

Unlike Hector Ruiz, Dirk Meyer seems like a really smart guy.
I see a bright future ahead for AMD with him at the helm and I hope he's successful in turning the company around.
My thoughts exactly. He is rather impressive. I was especially amazed by this:

Q AMD accounts for about 20 percent of the x86 microprocessors sold globally. What percentage of the market do you think is reasonable for AMD to get?
A I'm not running the company that way. We're running the company to carry sustainable consistent profits. We want to grow. Day to day, month to month, year to year, what we want to do is maximize our gross margin dollar. So therefore I don't start out company meetings by saying, "We've got to get to x, y and z share targets."
