I'm taking a MCP class and we were working on an AMD K6 machine. The intructor (idiot) called it a pentium knockoff machine. The other memeber of the class (mostly twice my age) agreed. They seems to think Intel is _the_ one and only decent CPU company. They mentioned P4 and rambus with one looking rather glee saying he owned rambus stock and how its gonna be the future. It seemed like none of them knew about the recent troubles with intel and how AMD has been great. Has anyone else experienced this with people in the computer field? seems like ignorance to me.

Nah... I actually fight for AMD with cold hard evidence (usually benchmarks). But I do agree, that some people are brain washed by Intel fanboys.

Just tell them to bring a P!!!-600 system in and you'll face off against them with a Duron 600 machine. Of course when you have yours cranked to 900mHz they'll whine their butts off! :D

most of them are NT4 MCSE people and they recommend intel only solutions to their clients. if they actually looked at AMD they might get a clue. If AMD put out the p4 i'm sure intel would laugh its ass off. (some of teh requirments like heatsink and stuff is laughable, plus the huge die size)

Can't really say if I agree or disagree with the review since I don't even understand it. Looks like Malay or Indonesian to me...But their choice of benchmarks and processor comparisons seem to put the Celeron in the best of light. Also, judging from their benchmarks they must be using a really crap video card, doing something really wrong, or faking the results. There's no way a Duron@950MHz would only outscore a Celeron@850MHz by only 0.5FPS(81.5 vs 81FPS) at 1024x768x32bit in Q3 timedemos.
