One variant, but probably not the top SKU.

yeah i expect two 8C SKUs. One at USD 400 and the flagship SKU which is clocked higher , probably binned to hit higher max OC and maybe comes with a liquid cooler for USD 600.

**A** 8 core will be ...

(I assume they will launch more than one 8C part.)

The rumours have all been of two 8C/16T SKU. Nothing surprising.

i'd like to at least see some socket specs so I can at least figure some water blocks are going to be launching soon after...

Supposedly all socket specs are the same so all AMD compatible coolers should fit

i heard different, but was unable to verify any of it. supposedly it's 40mm like AM3 but I had read about new hole dimensions and some cooler companies readying adapter kits or something.

would be great if my existing block would just mount up with little or no tweaking...

It seems you'll be able to use your existing mounting hardware if it uses the default motherboard brackets. If your block uses a custom mount or backplate, it seems it won't work.

CES is in a week, hope we get some more information on this.

New Ryzen CPU expected to help raise AMD desktop market share in 2Q17

Monica Chen, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Monday 26 December 2016]

AMD's next-generation 14nm Ryzen series processors will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2017 and the new platform will be officially released at the end of February and enter global mass shipments in March, according to sources from motherboard players. Optimistic about its high price/performance ratio, motherboard players have been rather aggressive about placing orders for related motherboards recently and some even believe demand for the new platform will increase AMD's share in the worldwide desktop processor market in the second quarter of 2017.

The sources also expect the platform's demand to increase shipments of AMD's 14nm Polaris-based GPUs and upcoming Vega GPUs.

Ryzen series CPUs are manufactured by GlobalFoundries' 14nm FinFET process and the notebook version will arrive in the second half of 2017.

The sources pointed out that they have started receiving high-end X370, mainstream B350 and entry-level A320 chipsets from AMD and are now in the final stage of finishing related testing and motherboard designing.

Thanks to Polaris series graphics card's strong demand, AMD's GPU market share has recently returned to 30% and with Ryzen's promotions and new Vega series products, the sources expect AMD's share to have a chance to return to 40% by the end of 2017.

In addition to motherboard players, AMD's chipset designer ASMedia is also expected to have a chance to enjoy growing revenues in 2017.

With stable demand for semi-customize solutions from game console players, Polaris GPUs being accepted in Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Pro and new CPU and GPU platforms, AMD is expected to see growing profits for 2017

So what we've seen so far have been samsung ...

What gives you that impression? Here is what Fott was saying:

Yep. I heard AMD is talking with GloFo to increase production at Samsung FABs.

All he is saying is that AMD is asking for increased production, obviously they like what they are seeing and are going to be making a bunch of these things, more so than Global Foundries can handle at the moment.

Occams razor, simply correlating what we've seen out of GloFo at past launches and applying it to now. Not an exact science I know.. Just seems much more likely to combine ~5G on air and Samsung in the same sentence than ..
But who knows, I hope its glofo, dont think it is thou'

90 x 54 mm.
You'll need new mounting.
