My personal experience with the K7S5A: stay the fvck away. My board has incredible stability issues compared to my last board (Epox 8k7a... sigh...). I didn't really know about the bios losing problem, but it sure happened to me a lot and I even went out to buy a new battery for the mb. Only a loss of 3$, since my settings actually resetted this morning when I turned on my computer. I'm not a hardcore overclocker so I can't comment on that part. For free + as a second system, definitely worth it. I just ordered a Epox 8rda+ from newegg for 88$ shipped and i can't wait to get this motherboard out of my main system. I hear it's extremely picky about ram as well. Btw, it took me three trips to Fry's to get a working board.
However I do know that if you do find a working board that doesn't have the most common problems, then it could very well be the best deal you ever made.

This thread is TWO weeks old. JWMiddleton decided it needed a bump today in order to say he likes the MB. No wonder he has so many posts.![]()
PS. Only AMD combo at Houston Frys today is the ECS + 2200 for $79.99. It's been 69.99 in the past.

They haven't had this combo on sale for about 2 weeks in Nor. Cal. Supposed to build out a system for someone using this combo and been waiting. My experience with the ECS's are the same as 0roo0roo. I've built over 30 systems now using the ECS mobos some pros and some not, and as long as they weren't DOA they have/are working flawlessly. But I've been lucky I guess since I hear some horrible stories also.

I used to be one to praise this board like many others here. However, I'm starting to change my tune. I've got two out of five systems now that are losing the CMOS on shut down. Both ran fine (like the other three still are) for over a year, now the two oldest ones have started to act up. I flashed the bios on both and it doesn't do any good. I happens a couple of times a week. Seems to be a well known problem though the recommended solutions involve soldering, and that's something I'm just not up to.
