Ok ... this is my first venture into the world of AMD so perhaps I'm missing something.

I purchased a new AMD 1800xp and the EPOX 8KHA+ mb today and when I booted up the cpu is registering as 1.1ghz

The same speed is registered when I use SiSoft Sandra as well

Is this correct? Does AMD simply register differently? Is there some setting I need to change? Or did they simply package a 1.1ghz and screw me? =)

Thanks in advance for any tips....

Increase the fsb in the bios to 133MHz, it's at 100MHz right now

11.5x100 = 1150MHz
11.5x133 = 1530MHz AthlonXP 1800+ rated speed.

/sigh

Many thanks!!!

my only excuse MIGHT be that it's 4am and I'm sleepy as all hell ... glad it was something simple !!

=)

one of the 2 jumpers on the 8kha+ is the one that sets de default FSB between 133/100, make sure you set that jumper 😀
