Running on an Epox 8KHA+ MB...in an Antec 636case 3 fans..im showing 50c 122f ...is this about right under 3D load? Also is there a utility to see the temps while in windows? thanks

50C is fine. When it gets above 65C then you should be concerned.

You can use MBM to monitor temps in Windows.

Call be paranoid, but I never like my CPU getting over 47C. Mainly because your mobo temp reading it could be off by anywhere between 5 to 1- degrees Celcius. (The reason I HAD to order another case fan). My brother is running a 1.4ghz T-bird core at never any more than 42-43C.

What causes such large differences? I know it doesn't really matter as long as it's under 55 or 60 or so.

I assume programs vary (Motherboard monitor vs. Guardian, etc.)
Case temp
Heatsink
Fan
Motherboard (accuracy of the sensors)

Just seems odd that some folks run 35 load while others are at 55. Big delta

Propnut,

I think you're running too hot. It's true that Athlon's can take heat up into the 60's, but that doesn't make it a good idea. What heatsink? You have three casefans and you're running ~50C...yikes! How is your blow/suck setup on your fans? It's best to have the one in front suck air in, and the higher one by the CPU blow air out. Is the third on the PS or is it separate...like over the motherboard etc...

Athlon cores are rated to temps up to 90C. 50C is fine, though it is a tad higher than an 1800+ should be. Either way, don't worry about it. Your heatsink probably just isn't crazy like most of the people's here. =)

i am running mine OC at xp2000 speed, with increased core voltage by +0.075.

I've never seen anything higher than 48C (which is *very* rare already, 47C is more common)...i'd consider 50C hot...especially if he doesnt OC.

I use a alpha8045, some arctic goo and a sunon case fan.

Oh..yes....there is an utility...mother board monitor

i have a AMD 1800+ at 1725 mhz 1.82 volts it idles at 34c and under full load i yet to see it go above 43c. motherboard that is being used is a Abit KG7 . heatsink is a alpha 8045 with sunon fan.......arctic silver

That's a bit toasty IMO. I've got my 1800+ cranked up to 1627 MHz which is faster than 1900+ speeds and it idles at 38C and warms up to ~41C under gaming load. ThermalTake Volcano 7 and Arctic Silver II keeping it chilly.
