AMD XP 2800 with Thoroughbred core!!

no heat spreader and tons of pressure! wow! thats gonna be delicate. granted, a heat spreader does hinder cooling a bit compared to having the heat sink in good contact with the core, but i'm thinking the spreader should be there for protection.

Maybe AMD have finally got the HALT command to work properly with the Thoroughbred?
It seemed strange that AMD never supported this feature though it was present (broken perhaps)?
If they were to introduce this as a supported feature then theres no reson why a Throughbred could not run as cool as a Northwood, yeah?
I know my Northwood was pretty hot when i ran it under full load. Only a few degrees cooler than my XP! :/

I'm still waiting for the mobo manufacturers to support the thermal diode in the XP chips

Hard to tell whether its actually cooler than the Zdnet Germany page or not.... HOw was the demo cooled? Was it open system? Was it Liquid cooled? >>

Supposedly it's just a regular HSF, at least according to AMDZone and other web sites that is...

man, i thought i saw somewhere that the T-Bred was gonna have a heat spreader....if not, it's gonna be a real pain in the azz to cool...i just built a computer today with a morgan core duron processor, which has a bigger core than the T-Bred....and i thought that core was small. heatsink solutions for the new T-Breds should be interesting
