AMD XP 2200 + DDR333 question

On wednesday I will be the happy owner of the following rig:

AMD XP 2200+
512MB DDR333 (Samsung)
ASUS A7V333 (Raid)

Mainly for gaming.
My questions are:

I think the optimal performance would be to pump up the FSB of the XP to 166 (to corespond with the DDR memory) right?
Would this give any significant Performance?
I will have just air cooling (I dont remember the brand but on the expensive side, so I guess it should be good)
You should understand that I have never OC an AMD before, so pls bear with me if my questions might sound stupid.
I realise that I will have to unlock the multiplier (which I initially did not plan due to inexperience) because it would be inpossible to run 13.5x166FSB = 2241:(, so I will probably be looking at something like 11x166FSB=1826Mhz. Is this goint to be worth my while. I undestand that these CPU have termal protection, do I still stand the chance of frying it or I don't have to worry about that part cause the system will simply not post? Should air cooling be enough for the 11X166?
Which would be better/wisher: leave the multiplier locked and get something like 13.5x139~143FSB or hopfully and without spoiling the cpu, unlocking the multiplier (maybe i got this unlocking thing wrong and that is why I am worried and its not a big deal) and going for the 11x166.

I would apreciate any experience/ advice. Thanks

P/S: one more stupid question: will I be able to use this same modo if later I decide to upgrade to the XP2600+ or the upcomeing XP with 166FSB (later this year)?

Just unlocking the multiplier and running a higher FSB at the same speed should be pretty safe.

You won't have any problems running a 2400+ or 2600+ in that board (not that you would notice the increase in speed). A 166FSB chip should run fine with a BIOS flash, as well. Personally, I don't really think either upgrade would be worth it. I would personally wait until the ClawHammer came out (or Preston) before upgrading again, but if you absolutely must upgrade sooner than that, at least wait for Barton with the 512k cache.

I'd also wait for the AMD 2800+ with the 166 FSB. Ought to be out by end of year, I figure. That 166 FSB might only get you 5-10% extra speed, but in some applications, it might be worth it. If you are doing something like distributed computing (folding at home, etc), then from what I gather, the FSB isn't much of a factor. In that case, get a 2600+ a couple months sooner.
