1 minute 12 seconds p4 - 3.0 1 gig memory no over clocking - 1st rig

36 seconds p4--3.0 overclocked to 3.6 memory 2 gigs 3500ddr over clocked

36 seconds.

CS2 / X2 4400+ / GA-K8NXP-SLI / 4x Crucial 512MB 3200. All stock.

How can we be sure the two cores are being utilized? I've only had this rig a week and am paranoid that I have a redundant core. Any way of confirming this, or is my time above proof enough?

Your times are exactly in line with a stock 4400, so it must be correct.

JEDIYoda: there is no wau you can go from 1m 12seconds on a P4 3.0 down to 36 seconds by overclocking it to 3.6 Use a secondhand, the built-in clock is wrong.

Yeah somehow I dont think you will be Technonuts 4.4ghz P4......

also think about it...you raised the speed by 20% a factor of 1.20...if it was all perfectly linear to speed you would have seen 60seconds.....To run it at 36seconds now with a perfectly linear scaling again you would have had to oC the cpu to 6ghz...would probably be less like 5.6ghz since the super high system bus would help you here definitely....

actually everything was stock on the wifes computer when I ran the first test!!

Then I used my gaming rigg that is over clocked as well as the memory being over clocked!!

When I get home from work I will try it again!!

I could be wrong!!

I got 33sec, ran the test twice on a x2 4400+ overclocked to 2.43Ghz 221x11 200mhz Ram DDR400, 5xHT, 3,3,3,7 crucial value ram 2gigs and a 250gig Hitachi t2k750 HD 8mb cache.
I can't figure out how keeleysam got 25secs with basically a stock x2 4400+ though
I'm running on Win x64 on a shuttle sn25p though.

Sounds right to me.

I ran the test 3 times and got a 54 sec average.
Using Photoshop CS!

Have fun people!

this test was peaking my interest, sooo, I ran it on my two computer systems.

1.p4 2.4c @ 2.4 with 512 ram ddr400 with 2.5cas and 2225 timings and a 120 gig maxtor
sata hardrive on windows xp pro sp2 and photoshop cs2

2.p4 2.4c @ 2.88 with 512 ram ddr400 with 2.5cas and 2225 timings and a 120 gig maxtor
sata hardrive on windows xp pro sp2 and photoshop cs2

3.amd x2 4200 @ 2.2 with 2 gig of corsair value select cas3 3338 and a 250 gig maxtor pata hardrive on windows xp pro sp2 and photoshop cs2

4.amd x2 4200 @ 2.4 with 2 gig of corsair value select cas3 3338 and a 250 gig maxtor pata hardrive on windows xp pro sp2 and photoshop cs2

1. 1:30
2. 1:08
3. 0:37
4: 0:31

although i noticed a 20 sec difference, i wasnt sure that cs2 is that fast vs cs... so is cs2 "generally" faster than cs or older versions? (i just installed cs2 today thats why i cant say for sure that it generally is faster..)

Ok my "pre upgrade" results are 3:25 on the following system:

Photoshop CS
AMD XP1600+
Win XP Pro SP2
1.25gb RAM (512mb of PC3200 and 768mb of PC2100 - I know, I know... I need to get all the same speed ram... in due time!!!)
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
160gb SATA
eVGA e-GeForce FX 5200 128mb 8x AGP

Tomorrow I am swapping out the MB and CPU with:

Asus A8V Deluxe
AMD64 X2 3800+

I'll update the speed difference as soon as I'm up and running!

Make sure to use CS2. CS is a little slower, and PS7 is much slower.

I'm SO GLAD that you said that. I'm looking at everyone's score and thinking that there's something wrong w/my rig! I'm runing PS7 and scored 47 seconds with this rig (all stock speeds)

EVGA NF-41
4400X2
2GB (2x1GB) PC3200
7800GTX
2x250GB SATA drives RAID0

I'll have to download that CS2 thing.

108 seconds (1 min 48 seconds) using Photoshop CS 8.0 on my P4 2.8C @ 3.15 Ghz, 1GB DDR.

JEDIYoda - you are either using the wrong picture, not clicking 'best' quality or something else is set incorrectly.

OK, now that I'm finally through that upgrade (slightly painful, but I'm almost through it).... Here are my new results:

I finished in :55 seconds (I believe that is a 73% inprovement over the XP 1600+)
Asus A8V Deluxe
AMD64 X2 3800+
Photoshop CS
Win XP Pro (no SP installed yet)
1gb RAM (512mb of PC3200 and 512mb of PC2100)
160gb SATA
eVGA e-GeForce FX 5200 128mb 8x AGP
