Hahaha, YIKES 🙂 It was a scorcher outside in Oregon today (Duvie and Mark can verify), and it looks to be another one tomorrow. Anyways, I've been running United Devices on my X2 since yesterday, and I just checked the temps today and they were hovering around 70C load.

Oh well, if this CPU explodes anytime soon I'll let you know 🙂 The motherboard, CPU, and PSU have performed incredibly stable at this overclocked speed, so this is a good stress test for them.

it's either of these things, just try to isolate and figure it out:

1) the mobo is reporting the temps incorrectly - clue: try using a thermal probe to get real cpu temps. OR touch heatsink (note that if the HSF is not seated properly, you can get a cool HSF but a hot CPU.

2) the HSF is not seated properly - clue: the HSF is cool to touch but the CPU is hot (via mobo sensor) or better yet via thermal probe

3) the ventilation is bad - clue: temps normalize after opening case and using big fan on the case

4) the CPU is over volted - clue: check bios for actual vcore

5) the fan is not working - clue: it's obvious

6) the HSF is not in proper contact due to lack of / improper thermal paste. clue: this will behave like #2. you need to open reapply very thin AS5 and check again.

try these things out and find out what's wrong. note: bios reported temps may be inaccurate as one bios may differ from another bios version.

hope this helps 🙂
