amd x2 4800+ Temperature Problem

Problem with AMD X2 4800+ [AM2].
Assembled 4800+ with Asus M2M-VM DVI, the temperatures reach 75C within 15 mins and system shuts down.

With Asus M2N-VM DVI tried with different 4000+ it working fine.

Next 4800+ installed in M2N-E, facing same problem. Concluded.
HSF of 4800 is working fine with other cpu.
CPU is working excellent for 15min to 30min

Please suggest me, to trace the problem.
 
All i can suggest is that you have put the Thermal paste on incorrectly, look for Antec Silver or Arctic Silver thermal paste for a good contact to the CPU etc, and check that your fan isnt maybe facing the wrong direction if sum1 removed it before, and just check that the heatsink is making good contact to the CPU otherwise it sounds like you have a circuit issue with it, and you havent overclocked it in the past have you?
 
Is the HSF making proper (that is, flat) contact with the CPU?

If you are using the stock HSF, then it is more than sufficient to cool the CPU properly, with the included thermal paste/pad. Thermal paste "upgrade" to AS5 is totally unnecessary.

Less likely, it is possible that the integrated heat spreader on the 4800+ is slightly concave, preventing good contact with the HSF.

His original CPU was a single core which runs a whole lot cooler than the X2. I found this out first hand, because I applied it a certain way and that way worked fine until I used an X2. That is why that guide was written in the first place.

His original CPU was a single core which runs a whole lot cooler than the X2. I found this out first hand, because I applied it a certain way and that way worked fine until I used an X2. That is why that guide was written in the first place.

Actually, I don't see where the OP stated the original CPU was single core...

Either way, it would be interested to learn whether or not the OP followed any suggestions posted in this thread.

He sent the chip back to AMD, but I wonder if tried any of the suggestions as well.

I made the assumption that the 4000+ (single core) was the original chip, since he mentioned that he used that and it worked fine.

no, it is dual core, 4000+

I got a replacement of New Box, and AMD confirmed it is faulty Processor.

Excellent AMD support in India.
