AMD vs. Intel

Can we just make ONE sticky at the top of the CPU/processors forum to alleviate the flow of generic, and repetitive "What's better? AMD, or Intel?" I was looking at that particular forum the other day, and say 2 such threads, both at the top of the first page, that stuff just doesn't seem to justify taking precedence over important questions. If we could have a member create a thread to answer these questions, could it get a sticky?

I would disagree with this idea because long threads are too much trouble to read through and the question of which CPU is best depends on who is asking and when they are asking it. IMO it's much easier to just ignore a particular thread you're not interested in.

Wasn't someone just in forum issues complaining that there were too many stickies somewhere?

:)

lol fine, just lock and delete the stupid intel vs AMD questions, the subject has been beaten to death. And I know some people say ignore it, but a lot of new members are happy to answer the questions, which keeps pointless threads like that going...

SneakyStuff.... Sorry, I was just making a joke. I agree with your complaint, if not necessarily the solution.

In a perfect world, there would be a screen during the signup process that lists all the rules & regs of the board and forums..one that the user must acknowledge before the screen goes (but user accepting terms, etc and then enter)... and on that screen, in addition to all the other rules & regs should be something about the user doing a search before starting a new thread.

Perhaps just one sticky per forum that states the rules & regs and asks that users do a search before starting a new topic.

There will, not doubt, be user who ignores that and dont do a search, but if even 1/2 of them searched first, it would go a long way to stopping the carp that you mention.

:)

I thought there wasn't supposed to be any intel vs amd threads anyway. Guess not anymore a long while back had some sticky about them getting deleted. Probably got too much so they said what the heck.

but there is no one is better both have there pros and cons. i think people need to lay off intel intels are still good. they might not be as good as A64 in gaming but intels are better at other stuff.

Less filling? Tastes great? Who cares? It's BEER!

Same applies to CPUs - get over it already.

It's pointless to try and stop the debate, with every new product release it's a valid discussion. Blatant flamming and trolling should be handled separatly.
