Everything on these 2 builds are exactly the same except the motherboard and cpu, obviously. I know the videocard may be an overkill, but I don't plan on ordering that for a while. I am seeing where the price brings itself in a month or so.

But while I'm at it, the 2900XT has better specs than the 8800GTX, so what is the possibility that firmware can unlock its full potential? I can see this being a beast in the near future, but at the moment, it only competes with the 8800GTS if I am correct. (I've read that the 7.7 drivers worked magic for some people, confirmations?)

Thanks!
Joe

intel for sure. c2d > anything amd has to offer right now. if you overclock that c2d, it'll give that amd a beatdown.

8800GTX is better performing than the X2900XT. 8800GTS is a different story, as it does better in areas then the X2900XT and vice versa.

C2D, even if you don't OC.

If you do want to OC, absolutely go C2D.

As for the HD 2900 XT 1 GB vs. 8800 GTX, the 2900 is a nice card & all, but i owned both, & benched both, & really, the only thing i'd say that the 2900 is better for is drivers, since nV's drivers haven't been great for ages now.

Considering i see the Leadtek 8800 GTX for $485 after rebate, there's no way i could recommend the 2900 1 GB.

Oh, & there are tons of better coolers for the money: http://www.anandtech.com/casec...us/showdoc.aspx?i=3068

Now on the p5k-e, it says it's crossfire ready(On the asus website). Does that mean it can run Sli too? Even though 1 pcie slot is x4 or x1?

I am just stumped as to why it would only say crossfire and not sli. I don't plan on going crossfire or sli anytime soon, but it's just something nice to know if I am getting the board. Also, stupid question, can the p5ke run just one nvidia card? I am guessing yes.

No it doesn't, SLI is NOT supported. Neither is crossfire really, all you get is 1 pci-e slot 16x and 1 pci-e slot x4, not enough for dual 2900xt's ...
