Keep in mind that the success of sandy bridge has led to somewhat reasonable prices on the very much underrated i5-750. I was able to get that chip and a motherboard for less than $150, and it only took about 7 visits to ebay to get them. Even at 3GHz it is faster than anything AMD, for games anyway. And 3GHz is by no means the limit on this thing.
