AMD Thunderbird 650 OVERCLOCKABLE????

MGully

Senior member
I was visiting www.thetechzone.com and they had an article on the AMD Thunderbird 650 and I was wondering how overclockable are they really because I found where you get one for $65 with free shipping. If anyone has any info. drop me a pm or whatever.
Thanks

I'm putting one together right now.
I did get it stable @800 with ME.
using an A7V.
Now I just got a new Maxtor 30 GB hd and
am trying to load 2000.

I am trying to get a stable OS, then
tweak it some more.

let me know what works for you.

I'm curious also, is that more cost efficient than durons when you take into account overclocking?
Just put together a top of the line system (even the mouse will be more expensive than the processor) and I'm leaning toward buying a duron 600/650 or that tbird and overclocking it heavily.

Where are they $65, MGully?

I have a 650@1000 from compuwiz, so I'd say yes. Actually right now it's having some stablity problems but it's not the cpu cause it's doing the same thing at default, time to go over everything.

The Duron 650 is an easy overclocker.

Using the rear window defogger to unlock I easily got my Duron 650 to 900 on an abit kt7-raid mb using just the multipliers.

I got my 650 for $39 - it was a "new pull" from a local pc store.

I just ordered one from CompGeeks.com along with an Epox 8kt3(some other vendor). This is going into my brother's machine and I plan on trying to run it at 6.5x133 (866) or 7.0x133 (933). I have Arctic Silver and also ordered FOP32-1. Should be a great combo. I will post results and benchmark the setup vs. my Athlon 1.1 on a K7T-Pro2A @ 11x100.
