AMD thunder bird 1.4

Your T-bird is already unlocked, almost all of the 1.2-1.4s come that way. All you need is either a board with overclocking options like multiplier, vcore, FSB, adjustments in the bios or you can use a program like CPUcool to overclock it from the FSb if you don't have the bios options. Overclocking from the FSB will give better performance than just multiplier adjusting but a combo of both is the best. BTW, thanx for the advice about the auto update in XP 🙂 Edit:if you use a utility like CPUcool to O/C because your board doesn't support it, you'll want to pencil in the 1 open L7 bridge on the CPU to make the default voltage 1.85v which will allow you to get more MHZ out of it. It's not hard, just use a mechanical pencil and a magnifying glass to make the little line between the to metal dots and your done. The magnifying glass is just to make certain the pencil line dosen't touch 1 of the other lines because that can short the CPU.

Probably not, but which model do you have? the K7S6A has some overclocking features but most ECS boards like the K7S5A for example don't. I use CPUcool with my K7S5A and I'm running a Duron 1ghz@1.1ghz@default voltage using it. I've also run a Duron700@933mhz using the 133/133 setting in the bios@1.85v and a 1.4T-Bird@1.54ghz@1.85v using CPUcool. also, CPUcool provides hardware monitoring and overheat shutdown as well.

is the only way you can tell by checking the bios? if you can? because i think i have the one where you cant. so should i get that program

yeah, I would get CPUcool and see what you can get with your voltage@default at first as it'll be safer that way.
