Voltage increase did seem to help- thanks! Handbrake was crashing during video encoding but was able to go all the way no prob with the extra voltage.

What do you think about the CPU Ratio, which can be increased to 16.5? (I can also change it for each of the 6 cores) Is it better to stick to CPU bus and voltage adjustments?

I saw some boards allowing to select Turbo multis for 1055T, though? I mean, there's gotta be a way since Turbo is an official feature of these chips. It's obviously AMD that doesn't allow it in order not to jeopardize 1090T's sale.

On a side note, I am debating whether to push my CPU higher. I was satisfied with easy 4.0 GHz and didn't really go any higher. Plus there isn't really a nice and even number that attracts me past 4.0. So far I have tended to stick to numbers like 3.0, 3.2, 3.6, 4.0, etc. After that,.. I don't know. Maybe 4.5, 4.8, 5.0?

Hey guys, got some Q's. For the rig in sig, I'm looking to hit around ~3.2, and keep turbo enabled (for ~3.7) on the stock heatsink. Is this doable if I just up the bus to around 230? Is it advisable to disable CnQ & set the vcore to 1.325 instead of "auto", or maybe bump it up a bit? I'm used to o/cing Intels, so this stuff is new to me. Tks!

Edit: I'll most likely replace the noisy stock HS at some point.

I think you can do that without touching anything but HTT. (~228 HTT for 3.2 GHz) No it's not advisable to disable C'nQ because that'll disable Turbo. (afaik) And the board will automatically raise the vCore when Turbo kicks in.

EDIT: I see two values in the BIOS - one for CPU Frequency (MHz), and one for HT Link Frequency. Am I correct in assuming that the CPU Frequency value should be increased, and leave the HT Link Frequency set to auto?

That would be correct, you want to modify the CPU Frequency.

Yes. For a modest over clock (~230HTT) you can leave HT link at auto. Your board will either 1) keep it's multi at x10 and boot to 2300 MHz, or 2) lower it's multi to x9 and result in 2070 MHz. Either one is fine.

You should actually see a few more values like HT link width (16 bit or 8 bit -leave at auto), CPU-NB frequency (leave at auto or fix it at x10, should not be lower than HT multi), and memory frequency (auto should be fine for now).

It seems my 1055 is limited by the motherboard, as usual. 270 bus works fine, 275 doesn't work. The computer will not boot at all when the bus is set to 275.

RAM is underclocked, HTT is underclocked, northbridge is underclocked. How do I get the bus past 275? Is there a voltage I need to tweak? The board is an Asus M4A78T-E (i think it's a 790GX chipset)


I had a similar issue with my mom's computer (don't worry, I changed it all back to default when I was done screwing with it). The issue was that bus speed would not go past 250mhz. Her motherboard is a Gigabyte MA785GMT-UD2H (785 chipset).

^I had trouble with certain ram multipliers on my Gigabyte 790GX. Try changing multipliers, up and down.

So far, im loving this chip, coming from my 2 quads in sig, this is the easiest chip i have ever oc'd - im shooting for 4.3 on 1.55V ill update and let everyone know.

48c load @ 4Ghz? sweeeeet. Nice o/c there. Just curious, what software are you using to monitor your temps? I use the latest Core Temp, idle/load is 29c/50c on the stock hs.

4gh was stable 8hrs @ 1.425 so I continued to up it.

Got it to 4.2 on 1.52V temps still fine (51C loaded) Tightened ram timings from 8-8-8-24 to 7-8-7-24 @ 1600Mhz upped NB speed from 2.8ghz to 3ghz

That's remarkably good. I ran OCCT's small Linpack test and it failed after a few minutes today, so I had to increase it to 1.475V at 3.71GHz. It's a 1055 phenom.

The only thing that comes to mind is the Thermaltake Contac 29. Just as cheap (if not cheaper, sometimes) as a Hyper 212+, and a few reviews such as from frostytech shows it to perform very close to a Hyper 212+.

If I didn't already have a Hyper 212+ when I saw it, I'd have just bought the Contac 29, using a standard AM2/AM3 mounting goes a long way for convenience especially when you get the itch to tinker repeatedly with the cooling for some reason.
